/mu/ and /out/ are pretty much what I am, but I really don't listen to music while i'm out.
when i'm on the mountainbike i feel blind with headphones in, it's really dangerous to jam your sonar like that. with camping or hiking it's sorta the same thing, i gotta be able to hear what's going on around me - pic related.
i suppose i could bring an ipod dock noisemaker out so at least i don't have headphones in my hearholes, but that's bulky shit to carry

I listen to Manowar and Overkill mostly while motorcycling around.
Overtone/polyphonic stuff puts me in the /out/ mood. Most types have roots in prehistory and nomadic peoples.

I don't listen to music on the trail but when there's down time or when I'm going to bed I'll put on some ambient electronic, IDM, drone, something minimalistic.
