Nope, not this week's end. Still too shitty up north for fun hiking/camping. Once the leaves come-in it'll be better. Only thing I have to do this weekend is go out to my secret monument in the woods and plant some trees to help hide/landscape it. :^3

Oo What general area?

Would you recommend that sleeping pad over an inflatable one? I've thought about getting one but they seem so bulky even if their lightweight.

Noice. You built it yourself I'm guessing. How many pounds of concrete did you have to carry?
>>
>>750384
Harpoon IPA FTW
>>
>>750395
it's 48" tall, most of it (~32") is underground. it's 10" in diameter. it has rebar reinforcment inside that protrudes a further 10" from the bottom into a 100lb concrete footing at the base of the hole. all-up we're looking at around 350bs of concrete and steel. it was poured and assembled elsewhere and the ~280lb pillar was rolled ingeniously through the forest to the location of the pre-dug hole. the concrete footing was dumped-in and we simply slid the unmoveable beast into it and filled it in with dirt and rocks all while checking to keep it level. a bulldozer would struggle to remove it.

Gonna go camping by a river near town with some buds. Gonna go Saturday night, cook up some meat, have a fire and all that. Wake up Sunday, go down under the railroad bridge, tune my old radio to some shitty am radio talk show and cast a line. It's been too long sc/out/s, can't wait.

Slightly rural. I live in central California, small farm Town rapidly turning into a medium suburb. The river is at the edge of town, there's a trailer park on the opposite shore but it's far away enough to not be a bother

what's all the foodstuffs? i see summer sausage, trail mix, instant taters... what's the rest?

ALSO i have that same pocket jiuceā„¢ thing! couple questions:
1. how do you like it?
2. has the button and flashlight function broken yet?

i use that to run my recording rig and it's fucking heroic. itll run my recorder, with backlight on, with the preamps up, and put out phantom power for the mics, all while running headphones - and it'll do it for hours. its capacity seems to well exceed AAs. it cost me like $8 as an impulse buy at the checkout and it was so fuckin worth it.

Nice man. I may repack my pack in the morning, if I do ill snap a pic with it unpacked. I'll be out for a little over a week. Hoping the BC weather holds. Cheers.
>>
>>750683
I've got a Knorr Spanish rice and chicken rice above the mashed potatoes, and a Yakisoba bowl on the top left, repackaged. A couple big bags of honey roasted peanuts and dried cranberries, some instant oatmeal, tortillas under the summer sausage, and some soup down on the bottom left. The rest is all gear: tackle and power eggs top left, GI poncho, hammock/cocoon sleeping bag + straps, power pack/flashlight, toilet paper, toothbrush obviously, and a Zefal bladder + Sawyer mini for refilling my camelbak.

I've had the power pack for a couple years, it works well enough as a flashlight, but I've been thinking about switching the LED for a red one, (fedora-tier milspecey bullshit, but less likely to been seen when stealth camping). So far, it's held up pretty well. I think it's a 1650 battery, same stuff they put in laptops.

>>750685
I've used dozens of cook kits, and it's definitely my favorite. Its modified to use the handle as a bail, so I can hang it over a fire.

>>750688
I'm leaving early and don't use the webs while /out/, but if the thread's up when I get back, I'll report back, check it out, and we can compare notes.

>I'm leaving early and don't use the webs while /out/, but if the thread's up when I get back, I'll report back

No. You have to post pics and tell us how it went. If anything interesting or funny you must greentext it. Come on man, there are some of us that can't go /out/ erry weekend because of reasons.
>>
>>750691
>I've had the power pack for a couple years, it works well enough as a flashlight
be careful - it'll fail! it's a super delicate and dodgy contact and it'll break without warning. yours lasted a lot longer than mine but just don't rely heavily on it!

sounds like some good grub. i've never had one of those yakisoba bowls (i'm a ramen/nongshim kinda guy myself) but i should pick one up sometime. i love fried noodles so i should get away from the soups a bit. ever try the mi goreng variety? they're tough to find in Merka but they are so fucking delicious. it's just ramen (not meant to be a soup) with a ton if packets of sauces and oils and such and you mix it all up and hnnnng. probably absolutely toxic tho

>>750698
I don't really use flashlights anyway, unless I need to find something in my bag at night. Getting up to piss or even hang my cocoon is easy enough to do by starlight.

I like the Yakisoba, but I'll see if I can find the others you mentioned. It sounds basically the same, dried veggies, sauce packet and it ends up as a pretty decent chow mein. I've never done it as a BIB before, so I'll let you know how it turns out.

Going camping and squirrel hunting this weekend, might bring my brother along. Should be fun, I love camping and this will be my first time hunting.
>>
>>751006
What are you going to use to hunt them?
>>
>>751014
A single shot 12 gague. I know it's a little over the top, but I don't own a .22 and my K31 would be absolutely absurd to use on small game. In all likelihood, it'll just be my brother and I hiking around and taking (and missing) the occasional shot at a squirrel, which I'm perfectly happy with.

Depends on whether or not I remember to buy it honestly. a pack of 50 night-crawlers is well worth 3 dollars, but finding worms usually isn't that hard if i happen to forget.
3 step guide on finding suitable worms:
1. find some nice loamy ground that you suspect worms would be delighted to live in
2. make tippy tappy sounds on the ground (simulates rain, makes them come up most of the time)
3. collect worms.
alternative step 2: dig a bit, find some worms

>>751378
yeah umma make a taco-flavored rice & beans thing tomorrow. it's gloriously delicious, bretty healthy, and so very good for /out/. plus it makes days of food for like $6

2 x 10oz cans of Ro-Tel
1 x 15oz can of black or red beans (Goya is the best) *drained and rinsed*
1 cup dry rice
1 x packet of taco seasoning (i prefer the hot & spicy one)

ā€¢ dump all ingredients into rice cooker
ā€¢ add about 1-1.5 cups of water (1 cup of rice needs about 1.5 cups of liquid... some of this comes from the Ro-Tel so use common sense. you can always add water partway through cooking if it looks like it's too dry)
ā€¢ stir that shit
ā€¢ put rice cooker on white rice cook cycle and get your taco shells and salsa ready!
>>
>>751350
eat some fat with your veggies, it will make them more filling

you need to eat fat in order to live
>>
>>751445
This, fat helps you in a lot of ways it's just gotta be the right fats.

Nuts and olive oil are good fat, avocados (but pricey, damn 9 month growing cycle), or you can get marrow bones and fat trimmings from the butcher for pretty cheap.
>>
>>751445
>>751783
i eat olive oil with my salads and when i cook my tendies i tend(ie) to use olive as well. i should eat more fishes too, but $$$

also I eat peanut butta' every day too. i think if i'm just patient and cut out the nasty carbs and sweets i'll cut a pound or two a week. i do a few hours of intense cardio a week now that it's not freezing out as well.

I shimmy lead us up the hillside get up under a cliff overhang where we are dry and suggest we camp up in here. Noooo they said, we gotta go back down on the trail and set up the damn tent. Come 8:15 it's dark, 40 degrees, still comin a deluge, and there's a puddle inside the tent the size of Reelfoot lake I tell ya. Not to mention the zippers on the tent broke and won't shut so wind and rain are flyin in constantly. I'm soaked, no way of gettin dry, no way of makin Fire, food wet and ruined and my shit King roommate dropped the flashlight and shattered it on a rock. I lay awake literally all night long shivering like a sum bitch and I swear by time the sun come up My beer belly a gone and turnt into a shredded six pack from shivering so. Worst night of my life.
