Didn't see a thread about it so what about an /out/ essentials thread?

I'm getting into hiking and camping with 2 friends and we're planning on what gear to get. There's 3 of us so splitting the weight won't be a problem and for now it's just over the weekend. We all have experience from camping, hiking etc but now we don't have any gear left aside from clothing, a tent and 1 sleeping bag and shovel.

How about you ask google instead? Way faster and probably more coherent answers

No less than 6 Moras
>>
>>744001
Well I do have a few Puukko knives, no Mora needed.
>>743988
And why would I want that?
>>
>>744002
You will die without Moras. Trust me. You really do need half a dozen. 4 carbon and 2 stainless should be the bare minimum.

In he's sleep. He was 8 years old. The owner, poor guy, cryes like a kid when he founds him:

Buy a copy of Ray Mears bushcraft essentials. It has a really good rundown of the gear you need at the start, and he makes some recommendations. The rest of the book has good some breddy gud techniques and shit you can try while /out, so really you get a twofer.

Threads like this get posted every couple of days so people are pretty sick of answering this shit over and over. This is probably the best advice you're likely to get.

wow, you guys sure know how to be helpful... although gotta agree on the Moras.

Okay, here's what you might want to consider for taking with you. Although different trip scenarios and climates may require different equipment:

> something to make fire with
lighter, matches, or firemaking kit...whathever you like

> first aid kit
propably not gonna use it, not sure if it's really necessary to taky for weekend trip, also depends where you plan on going...
People often argue what should be in. Have few suggestions but you should do some reading about it:
Gauzes, wipes, bandages, pain relievers, antiseptics, superglue (can be used in emergency on wounds that need stitching, sealing cuts etc.)

> knife
for knifing and knife related activities

> headlamp
because it's annoying if you can't see at night... also good for making SOS signals in emergency

> bottle / camelback
...gotta store water somewhere. Also if you're into that stuff, take some tea bags or coffee

> cookware
for ummmm, cooking... if you are going to cook. Simple mess tin will do.

> navigation & comunication
maps, gps, phone...

> sunscreen, bug repellent, deodorant
I don't usually pack them, but other people might want to... also good for normie trips

> /out/ memekit
contains green beanie with some patches, Morakniv, wolf body-slamming gear, bear-fisting 100% biodegradable lube, CairnKicker 4000 boots with improved stone surface grip and special tripod for shitting into rivers

It will be alright. She had a good life with you. Just see to it that you are with her near the end. Cherish her.

Not that guy but my dog's nine years old, almost 10 and the idea of him passing away while I'm an hour and a half away at college scares me shitless, and makes me cry just thinking about it.

He's the only fucking guy that makes me, a grown man, whimper like a fucking child at the thought of him leaving.

Been 3 years since I put my pup down and I still miss him.

With as much as I travel in the winter now, there's no way I could take on another doge. Summers are real tough when i'm in town and come home to an empty house every day.

Death is a natural part of life Anon; it is the only thing in our lives that is certain. You can't stop water being wet just as you can't stop the reaper. Be smart; accept this and rejoice in the spent life rather than lamenting the inevitable. It's like crying over the moon leaving so the sun can rise; it is an inevitable cycle and anything other than acceptance is needless suffering and childlike in mentality.
>>
>>747206

Mate I've had dogs pass away on me before and it's just the natural way with things. If you're an adult you recognise even when you get them as puppies that they will be with you for a limited time. It's kind of like the Buddhist idea that you never really own anything you just look after it in a transient fashion.

That being said, grow up. I'm sure you love your dog but you sound absolutely fucking pathetic that you cry just thinking about your dog's inevitable death. I'm sure it will be a sad moment but you're apparently at college and you talk like a baby.
>>
>>747206
Spend quality time with him. Know the time you and your dog, family(, friends?) have here is brief and limited. The point of it is to be able to look back and say 'It was worth it'.
Memento mori, faggots. Death is certain, its hour is not.

This to be honest. Face the fact that all you enjoy will disappear at some point. Use it or lose it.

I think you guys misread him, he said his fear isn't his dog dying, but that he won't be around when it happens.

>>747206
This is a reasonable fear. A friend of mine literally took off two months from work to be there when his dog was dying and I can completely relate to that. It's family.
