One, there's 8 inches of snow outside and it's still coming down quick. (Winter storm warning now through sunday night.)

Three, there's no good places to use a boat within 100mi of here even if I had one.
So instead, I'm packing up the snowmobile and a bag full of riding gear, heading to a buddy's place tonight, and we'll head up the mountain tomorrow morning.

Boat people are weird. Cruisers have to be a little crazy to do what they do. Youd think yachters are super wealthy snobs, but really they are aquatic full time RVers. They sell their homes and liquidate their assets, buy a 30-50 foot boat, and roam. Dont get me wrong, ive met some great people in port, but were all a little goofy. Rational and responsible people dont leave their lives to go sailing.
That said, it does get lonely. Theres nobody out there. Thats good and bad. I recently had to be rescued by a foreign navy after my weather service fucked me into a storm, and nobody could hear my cries for help. Out of radio range, no phones, no internet. I had to call mayday on HAM and relay with the USCG to this countries navy. Its pretty terrifying calling for help on the VHF emergency frequency and nobody hears you with 10k feet of water under you, boat getting ripped apart, and the closest land over 100 miles away.
But its serene. Its you, your abilities, and God out there. Theres few things ive found to be more grounding.
