Any male nurses here? Been a fork lift driver for warehouses since I was 18 and I'm 22 now. Thinking of going to nursing school. Hospitals are everywhere so I can move to even the smallest of towns in /out/ country and get a job in the ER or ICU. Tired of living near polluted cities to keep a job. Thoughts?

Go for it. RN's make decent money and there will be so many fine female nurses around to hit on. You will always find a job too.

I'm a nurse, one of the main reasons for choosing this degree was the ease at which I could move around. Also, working three 12's gives you lots of off days to do other stuff. I've moved from Tennessee to Nevada and now Oregon with no issues at all. It's pretty based M8.

Changing bed pans and being around germs and bacteria 24/7 must suck though.

Depends. My mom is an OR nurse and lots of the stuff is just getting ready for cases and not even really dealing with the patients (conscious at least). And she is on some robotic surgery team so a lot of her time is spent getting these expensive machines ready to operate on people.

You don't do much of that stuff anymore, besides I rather deal with that shit than sit in an office or whatever.

Nursing is hard, emotionally stressful work at times. You're on your feet all day, dealing with some pretty nasty people at times. Other times it's very rewarding, and can be fun.

If you work in a small town ER, you may have days with only a few patients, and have it pretty easy. If you work in a busy ER or floor, you may not get to eat for your 12 hour shift.

I'm an EMT and currently doing my Paramedicine degree (australia). We share loads of common subjects and training with nurses, and have similar conditions etc

I'm sure by now you know all the Pros

>Highly dynamic
>Sucking the government teat is best
>Can literally go and work anywhere you want
>The work is as enjoyable as you make it

RNs make good money, but unlike Paramedics the glass ceiling is much higher. Nurses can specialise and end up making shitloads of cash.
I know a clinical nurse practitioner making upwards of $150k (shes been a nurse for like 10 years, but still)

The other massive plus depending where you work is the time off.
Paramedics here do 4 days on, 5 days off. Granted the 4 shifts are 12 hours (often more) and two are night shifts, but having 10 days free of every fortnight leaves plenty of time to go /out/ or whatever.

Just make sure you proactively look after your mental health. Prevention is far better than the cure here

Maybe in a 3rd world country nurses do all of that. In freedom land, we hire minimum wage CNAs to do that.

It's like you're a nigger given a physical gift but instead of running on the football field making $5M a year, you're running from the cops with your monkey friends. Why waste a life? It's easy as fuck to get a job as a male anon.

Former US Paramedic, can confirm.

Nurse and paramedic are very similar in skill set and education, but nurses make 2X and have a better career path all while being in a safer environment with less stress.

I know a few male nurses and they like it - not to mention all the girls you get while in college ...

Nurses also get paid more in rural areas. Cities are glutted with nurses looking for jobs. Not many want to work in rural areas thus the pay is higher. At least that's how it was for my Mom. She got paid $25/hour in Arlington, TX and we moved to Minnesota and she gets paid $37/hour at a small hospital. She does a lot more work though. They don't have enough nurses to specialize in everything. One day she may be cleaning old Betty's wrinkly old body and the next day she may be assisting in a surgery of a hunter that got attacked by a bear.

Nurses are the most in demand job, and as others said you can specialize and get paid a lot more, some well into six figures. Being a male, you will be limited to ER or ICU as you said because they need all the strong people they can get. It is very rare to see a male nurse in any other field, expect for maybe cancer or physical training centers. It's long hard hours and yeah you get 3-4 days off a week, but most of that will be spent cleaning your house up from the 2-3 days of neglect, catching up on sleep, etc. It's stressful but I think a man can handle it more than women. Nursing school is also fun surrounded by women. But expect to take part in a bunch of gossip as most nursing students are degenerate single moms that are currently a CNA or LPN.

I think small town ER would be pretty demanding actually though probably really fun and rewarding. Due to less resources you'd find yourself doing way more stuff and being more across multiple areas as there isn't enough people to have as many specialists in rural areas.

Ausfag here. Currently 2nd year of a nursing degree.
Go for it anon. Your thoughts about it sound right.
There are so many possible areas to go into with nursing. So much variety within the one job.

Not an /out / topic, And I resent how it's remained at the top all day while actually getting less action than other threads. Push this recruitment agenda somewhere else would be nice.
