Oh come on man. Can't you just Google this and get an answer faster without starting a whole thread? You come to this place, shit up the board with your blatant laziness, and worst of all, you don't even post any pictures of doggo. Such a disappointment.

Of course I googled first... I just assumed there would be some god tier hammock knot or something somebody knew about.

just cuz yet dog is eyeing that kid's vibrator - google "Bowline Knot", never failed me. just keep the loop small enough. add a snapshackle for ease of use.

Greatest knot available m9.
shit op, you must be hell in the woods, being that inventif..

This, the figure-eight followthru.
The figure-eight is the preferred knot of a lot of rope rescue technicians. Used to be bowline, but the figure-eight is much more secure.
I would probably loop through the clip, then just tie a normal overhand knot with the loop. AKA an european death knot.

What retarded directions. Just do normal figure eight with a bight.

Is there a best all around knot?
Strong and easy to untie, is my goal. Say for hanging a hammock, tieing something to tow? Utility essentially.

There is no one best knot for every situation, but if you want a quick release, learn how to do a slippery half hitch behind a slip knot. Look on YouTube for the vid of ray mears explaining his hammock set up.

Clarification: this is only for creating a loop to clip a hammock on to. If you use this to tow something, you'll die pretty quick.
IMO top five knots to learn are:
Bowline (also learn one handed method for safety)
Double fisherman's bend
Truckers' hitch
Clove hitch
Canadian Jam knot
As well as a good method of tying up a hank of loose rope
I am knot impressed guys...
I like the bowline a lot, with a Yosemite finish if you want extra security.

you're a retard. figure 8 on a bight does no good if you want the loop to go throw a solid metal ring. if you're going to use a figure 8 for this application it has to be a follow through.
i'd just pull bight through the ring and tie a double fisherman's back on itself-self tensioning, easy to undo, doesn't use a lot of rope, boom.

wew lad

If it's going to be semi-permanent, ideally you want the loop to cinch tight around the ring so it doesn't slide around and fray.
Buntline hitch would work too.

also, speaking of retards, if it's just to attach a clip to a dog leash you can still tie a figure 8 on a bight easily. Only need to use a rewoven figure 8 if the ring is fixed to something big.

size of the object has nothing to do with anything. tie a figure 8 on a bight then try to get the bight through a solid metal ring. let me know how it works out.
>>718508
that's very secure i guess but if you want a better and more manageable system you should use the butterfly hank
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eESQqNY__s
it lets you easily free any given length of the rope wihtout unkotting the whole
