What's the best state to live in for cost of living, price of land/housing, hunting, fishing, and /out/ in general? I currently live in Virginia and the National Forests are garbage because the AT runs through them and hipsters leave trash everywhere, spray paint everything, etc. The hunting is boring and the fishing is all down on the big rivers which I can't afford a boat for. And the housing and land market is complete shit. I don't feel like paying $450K for 5 measly acres and a rectangle box with absolutely no appeal.

I was planning on moving to Tennessee and I visited there and the people are complete garbage. I moved to Texas for 6 months and loved it but there's hardly any public forests to hunt on. Basically have to know some rich dude with lots of land or pay to hunt on somebody's land.

Have also considered the Rocky Mountain area. Colorado, Montana, Idaho, and possibly eastern Washington.

What are some states where I can have a house on 20+ acres for less than $500K near a National Forest full of good hunting and trout fishing?

jew york, maybe
also i think we already have this thread
where i said jew york in
specifically the adirondacks
it's state land not national but you can hunt/camp on it so what's the difference

Minnesota.

Land of 10,000 lakes, lots of public land for hunting. Low(er) cost of living but kinda low paying job market too.
>>
OP here. I've been researching a lot on Montana. It's got a fucking ton of game to hunt and I hear fishing isn't bad either. Also has a huge fuck ton of public forest land. It sounds like heaven. I've been looking up houses on Zillow and they look nice too. Colorado was my first choice but I know they are going to become California II with their shitty liberals taking over and wanting to ban guns. But seriously the imagination of hunting wild sheep, goat, moose, elk, bears, and mule deer brings me back to my childhood of playing Cabela's Big Game Hunter on Playstation 2.

Definately Montana. The day it becomes the next "go to" state ill have to hold a memorial service.

>possibly eastern Washington.
Do not move here. There is no reason for anyone to move here.

Seriously Montana is starting to have California problems too. A lot of Californians are retiring to Montana and then dipping into politics. They are starting to go after ranching and hunting and logging. Things Montana has subsided on since its inception. It can get ugly.

I would recommend Idaho, honestly. Idaho is like 80%+ public lands and you definitely don't have to worry about your guns. The Idaho Senate literally just this week passed permit-less concealed carry.

Also in Idaho, the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness is great, Hells canyon is great, fishing on the Snake River is fantastic, and you are day's drive away from National Parks in Washington, Oregon and Montana.

Why do Californians have to ruin every state they go to? They're pulling this shit in Texas too

Montana has been transitioning out of those fields for decades anyways. They are becoming more of a Colorado with tourism. Lots of ski resorts have opened up over the years, and have invited a lot of tech companies into the cities. But seriously with that said, fuck people moving to other states and trying to run politics.

I really don't understand why people move to a state that has a completely different political climate only to constantly bitch and moan and then try to change their new state's politics and laws into a carbon copy of their old state's. Why do they even leave their original state in the first place if they think everything's so perfect there?
>>

Colorado too...

Only Californians could make Texas worse

ME but you didn't hear it from me cuz I'm a Masshole

Why so much hate for Texas?

>hipsters leave trash everywhere, spray paint everything, etc
That sounds more like rednecks desu.

Are redneck hipsters a thing?
>>
>>715399
>no income tax
>low land tax

is pretty much what you should look for.

Tennessee is fine, I've never had a problem. maybe the problem was you?

>Are redneck hipsters a thing?

yeah.. kinda. just picture disturbed t-shirts, blue jeans, large buck knife. but with modern haircuts/no hats. oh and they would wear shoes instead of boots.

but still will call themselves rednecks.

closest thing I can think of.

The worst when they leave the state because they don't like it there (I live in Washington and we hear that a lot. we get a lot of Californians moving up here). But then they try to change all the laws up here to be like California.

Its like they have no connect to the fact that the laws and political climate lead directly to all the things they hated. Its bizarre.

Kentucky.

>Montana
Land of gas-station casinos, drunken Indians, and broken white people.
Op, Montana is an incredible place for /out/ - because there's no nice /in/ there. Like living in a giant outdoor Meth trailer.

Fuck off, we're full.
>>
>>715627
What's wrong with eastern Washington anyway?
>>
>>717509
I don't know if it's necessarily anything wrong but a lot of it is barren farmland, not great for /out/ings and the people are very conservative.
>>
>>717509
Spoklahoma.

>>715627
Yeah, he's right pls don't come here :^)

:^) please spread the world for awareness. DON'T COME HERE
>>

as well as being a meth heaven
>>
>>717509
Take your pick.
>Meth every-fucking-where
>Drug grows
>Belligerent natives
>Illegals
>Gangbangers in the tri-cities (both taco- and watermelon-american)
>Cults and other batshit crazy people living in trailers in the desert

I mean, the northeast corner of Washington is pretty nice but at that point you're more-or-less in Idaho and/or British Columbia anyway.

North west Wyoming.
