have you ever found anything cool or valuable while /out/?
>>
i found a leatherman in the sand while fishing once and countless lures, Once when i was a child on my parents farm i found what i thought to be a cool looking rare stone, it was amber colored and mildly transparent. It turned out to be a half sucked cough lozenge that had been sitting in the weather long enough to give the impression of a stone.
>>
I once found a cheap multitool while fishing and I recovered a 20m Forest loggers tape by stihl which was buried under a fallen tree

Found a stash of tranny porn magazines from the 80's in a box in the woods here in north Georgia. Almost feel like it was destiny because I'm actually a tranny myself.

Yes I'm completely serious.
>>
I found a walking stick in the woods behind my grandparents house when I was a kid. My grandad fixed it up and still uses it 20 years later.

Oh, and a random dog once walked into my camp, sat down by the fire and had a seizure before getting up and wandering off again. I was very confused
>>

I found porn in newspaper form. I didn't know that exsisted.
>>
I found a gypsy chicken run in the deep woods, was the creepiest shit, but in the shed nearby I found (stole) a fencing toolkit and a decent hatchet.
>>
I found a Native American effigy stone shaped like a turtle, and a broken stone spear point. Both were in a creek at the bottom of a steep hill on my family's woods property.

Took them to an artifact collector and we went back there and ended up other cool stuff, but also a piece of human skull. According to him the stone we found would have brought like $20k at an auction but I'm no grave robber and put all that shit back in the ground.

I doubt it, never saw any evidence of digging or whatever on that hill. The guy I went to has plenty of money and is so old he is selling off most of his collection. Doubt he was interested in digging up new stuff.

I found a small Cuban child once when I was kayaking around remote islands in the Keys.

I had my way with him, got a couple nice filets off him afterward, had a nice grill out on this tiny island, and then used the remaining bits as fishing bait.

Not in the deep woods, but before i was born, my dad built our house on about 40 acres of land that he bought from my grandparents. When he was digging out the well, he found the rusted remains of a gun. It's still sitting in his shop 30+ years later.

I was fishing in a lake on the MN/Canada border and saw a couple of tackle boxes and some poles on the bottom.

Threw a couple of treble hooks on some 50lb braid and fished those dudes out. The poles were too far gone but both tackles boxes had a load of great tackle in them.

Thinking someone left their ice fishing shack out on the lake too late.

I've found two instrument packages from weather balloons. The first one fell in the woods really close to my garden. It had instructions to give it to my mailman for return to the NWS so that's what we did. The second was WAY back in the bush and had evidently been there for a couple of years cuz it was heavily weathered and rusty. I kept it and disassembled it to see what was inside.

My dad and a friend, in Eastern Oregon in the middle of nowhere, found hundreds of dollars worth of quarters. They were spread out in maybe a quarter mile area, far far away from any roads. wrecked 1957 chevy and 1969 beetle rally cars

from a race in the mid 70's where a hell's angels member driving the chevy who wasn't a participant appeared on the course & ran the beetle off the road killing the driver. then on a patch of straight road with no hazards to speak of he veered off into the treeline killing himself.

the beetle was picked through shot at and gutted, but the chevy was very hidden and everything's there. all 4 wheels, rubber, suspension, the block.. the hood opens..

i actually found a voice recorder hiding inside of the engine bay tucked away behind a corner of sheet metal. the battery was dead and i haven't found a charger that works for it..

Not cool or valuable but on one my recent walks at a local trail, I walked off the main trail that lead to a small cliff and found two cairns on top of large boulders and instantly thought of this board. It made no sense since they served no purpose for trail marking since it was right on the shore, and then it got worse, I turned around and saw a couple of other boulders down there that had been some shitty artwork on them. It looked like it was done in chalk so If I get chance I'll try and clean that garbage off. This was in Bluff Point in CT.

Thanks /out/ you've finally given me a topic that I can highlight on. I live in Newfoundland, which is just an island of many failed settlements, and bog. So alot of times when I go rambling along the island ( mainly around central nfld ) I find settlements that have been abandoned and swallowed by bog. Just old saltbox houses that are almost completely under bog, but still enterable. What spooks me is the fog we get, since newfoundland is in between the labrador cold water current, and tropical currents, some days we get thick fog bad enough to have weathermen warn people not to drive, and if you find an abandoned bogtown on a foggy day youd just about shit your rubber boots

found a dead body last Saturday in a cemetery, some crackhead homeless guy had OD'd. walked right past him but heard his phone alarm go off, thought he might just be sleeping rough so didn't disturb him then four asian guys checked him out when they heard his phone alarm and turns out he was dead.

Haven't got involved don't intend to either,

When I was 5 or 6 I found a small pocket knife in the dirt on a family camping trip. I showed it to my Dad and he took it and said I wasn't ready to have one yet. When I was ten he took it out of the drawer of his nightstand and gave it back to me.

That was almost 30 years ago.

I still have it.

Found a girlfriend in the woods behind my house when I was 13. We dated for 2 years.
>>
once when i was just leaving the woods on our land for a trip i was obertaken by a couple of faggy bikers.
they shouted at me to watch out next time or they will run me over.
after some time i found one of their bags that fell off. had quite expansive faggy gear in it (power cereal bars for like 100€) and a note with adress and return to owner.
send the dude the note and kept the rest.
i think thats what he would have wanted, poor guy probably died without his extra protein, extra everything power snacks.

also find quite a lot of old air defense stations left by the nazis.
one found some artillery shells probably murican, the area had hard fights.

Didn't find while /out/, but found a couple of rounds of live ammo in my chicken coop while cleaning. The asshole who owned the place before me just used it as a personal trash heap (he was an electrician) and after 8 years here I'm still digging out fucking wires and tiles and shit from the ground.

They were big bullets too, the kind of ammo you'd use for deer hunting.

> believing that every gun found in the woods was put there purposely
> thinking serial numbers of a firearm instantly tie it to a crime
> thinking that CSI can determine what type of round was fired and by what model gun just by looking at the bullet or casing.

All a serial number is for is for fucking tracking. That is it. Who had the fucking thing last! Now it would behoove of the new owner to do a search on the the serial number, model, and make to determine if the firearm if reported missing or stolen.

If it is? Turn it in to the nearest police so it may be returned to its rightful owner so you do not face any charges of possession of a stolen firearm.

If it's not? You my friend have a sweet new pistol.

>>

> believing CSI on TV is how CSI in real life works

Ballistics are not always conclusive. Some bullets are so deformed ballistics can't match it. And even then rifling or indents on a primer are not always conclusive as well. The myth about every guns rifling is unique, is complete bullshit because of milling being so accurate to within 1000 of an inch tolerances.

We could go on about hypothetical all fucking day. But long story short, unless the gun is reported missing, it's his.

Coolest thing was I found an old campsite once with misc syuff like broken pots, utensils, etc. Found a ceramic mug fully intact that said something along the lines of Hula/Hawaiian Club and had a date from the 50's. Found a full pack of cigs in a customized plastic container.

Used to use a metal detector in my grandparents yard. Never found anything except broken nails and tools, but one time I found an old match box car that belonged to my dad.

can't say ive ever found anything else going /out/ couple of old bottles and phials and a travel bag full of clothes and cd's just ditched in the woods but thats about it.

where you go /out/ i usually head near to my parents up near studley pike/hardcastle crags apart from that theres no where close.

thought about urbexing round bradford since there's a couple of abandoned schools and businesses that look cool to explore. i work for the council as a contractor and the amount of buildings that th e council owns and just leaves empty is astounding, if i ever became homeless i'd just break into one of the buildings, nobody would even notice

So I took him back grabbed a light and headed back to the spot, dragged the bag back to our house and opened it. It smelt fucking horrendous and was filled with rusty medical gear and bloody bandages, I tipped the contents out and at the bottom there was a plastic mask and a whole bunch of roaches

I was camping on Dry tortuga an island 50 or so miles west of key west. As I was tripping on 2 gs of shrooms I was sifting the the deep layer of coral on the the high tide break. As I was pulling up nice pieces of coral watching the sky break down into fracticals melting my mind I look down and see something shiny. I assumed I was just tripping balls and pick the shiny piece of coral up and stuck it in my trunks. Well 20 minutes pass of sifting through sand and I found two more shiny pieces of corral. The next morning when I regained my wits I examined the coral and it turns out to be pieces of silver. Couldn't believe it. I later find out that the area I was in was laidened with sunkin silver and gold from the pirate days.

I found plenty of unexploded ordnance while hiking around Berlin. Found plenty of bullets and other relics but no guns or helmets yet.

I also found a few arrowheads sitting on the surface at an abandoned construction site in Florida.

I found a huge pit of prohibition bottles and medicine bottles in a creek in USA before.

And probably my greatest find was an abandoned house in the middle of a forest that was on the verge of collapse but I decided to go in anway. The place was completely filled with relics and treasures such as old pictures, books, tools, furniture, dishes, etc. It looks like someone old owned it but died with no one returning to claim it. It had to have been abandoned over 50 years ago as there was nothing new inside, just antiques and old stuff. The only thing I took that I could carry back with me was a framed certificate from 1909 with a signature from Theodore Roosevelt that I still have. I would have gone back to the house but the place is located in Georgia, USA and I live in Germany soooo no time soon. I doubt it's still standing today.

No man. Southern England. Massive storms recently. They get washed over from a neighbouring island. At this time I year people don't use their boats often so sometimes they can go unnoticed for weeks

I had no tools on me. All doors bolted down. A few years ago it happened and I managed to get one of those self balancing always level ships compass', some good rope, sister got a small cooker and portable TV. Good times. That particular boat was half submerged though

A Swiss made Oris watch. Where this happened there is no lost and found and the police are corrupt. I had to change the crystal but otherwise in fine working order. In America it sells for $700. The bad part is looking at all the watches Oris makes the one I found is my least favorite.

hiking in a local park I found $7360 stashed under a tree in what appeared to be a homeless camp. A lot of the bills were deteriorated from the wet weather, Spent most of the bills that were intact but still trying to figure out how to cash in the bills that are more shredded. pic related

Have you tried..... idk.... a bank?

I learned when I was a kid that all you needed was more than 50% of a bill to swap it out. Come on anon, this isn't russia.

I found a wallet once with £500 quid in it. I was an 18 year old and had just been kicked out by my parents so I spent the money.

If it was now I'd hand it in at the police station; it could of been someones rent money or something.. I mean who carries £500 worth of cash on them?
>>
>>742139
>deteriorated from the wet weather

I taped most of it back together and they were accepted by my bank, the rest they wont take, they are considered mutilated. I have to scan them and send with a letter to the engraving bureau that states how I acquired the money and how it was damaged and they evaluate their worth and check to see if it was stolen. Its a pain in the ass to do..so I might say fuck it and encapsulate it in resin on a coffee table
>>
>>742145
drug dealers, people who dont trust banks, bartenders tips for the night ect....

I've returned wallets before, but it still makes me wonder why someone would have that amount of cash just out in a park?

My dad used to normally carry around $1000+ in cash on him. He was fine using cards and everything, but he liked having the cash for certain situations. One being food and quick shit like that since he kept track of his money pretty well and I guess in a way the cash on stuff like that makes it easier.

And two- cash talks on big purchases. Sometimes he could stop at an electronics store or a tool store for work and if he sees a good deal on a new laptop or some $500+ tool for work, you can normally at least get 10% off with no tax or have them toss in a carrying case or whatever.

I like having a couple hundred on me in cash just in case. Not tryin to buy $4 worth of gas station food on my card. Plus shit happens to the cards, my debit card was getting scratched up a couple months ago and wouldn't swipe a lot of places so I made sure I had cash.

There was a story on the news a while back about a couple who were on vacation and left the dog in the car while on vacation. Who the fuck knows why but the dog was somehow able to open the center console and ate an envelope with $500 in it.

>follow dog for days
>collect poop
>strain $100 bill pieces out of poop
> wash pieces
> tape together
> ?????
> profit

If they will take money literally covered in dog shit, i think they will take wet moldy bills.

Tell them that your grandpa buried some money in the backyard. The only way that they might have the serial numbers is if D.B. Cooper buried it.

Or better yet, send it to me and I will tell them my grandpa buried it. How much is left?

i would totally do it, i'd keep one but sell the rest. You would have to research how they track boats, find any hidden registration numbers and likely repaint a few of them but i bet you'd still get some decent money from it

About a hundred pounds of trim, packaged buds, a motor cycle, some weird Elvis backpack with like four mp3 players and a cd case packed to the brim with alt rock and nu metal.

Apparently the site got raided and they some how missed all this shit. Have a guy turning the trim into dabs and have enough packaged weed to last the next fifteen to twenty years.

There's a fucking boat on a trailer on the side of the highway that's been here for a month that I'm really fucking tempted to take. It's got out of state plates on it and no where near a residence. How long does something need to be abandoned before it's up for grabs?

Was walking around at Animus Forks ( abandoned Victorian mining town) near Silverton, CO when I saw a weird shape sticking out of the stream from under a rock. I pried the rock off and pulled this out, it's a fire hose nozzle from a company in Chicago. Due to the size of the town I would think it would be the only one there. I agonized over leaving it for history but figured some other tourist fag would scurry off with it for their garden or something. Eventually brought it back to town and donated it to the mining museum, they agreed with my decision luckily. As a bonus they let me walk the museum for free

My grandfather found a traditional knife from the place he usually dumps some food for the foxes in his forest. Other than the handle having a few bite marks, it was in great condition and whoever previously owned it lost it probably just a short time ago.

A week later the foxes brought the sheath of the blade to the same spot as well.
