Do any of you do things to minimize the smell of food where you camp? Have you ever had issues with animals coming to your base because of the smell of food? I'm referring specifically to camping not on campgrounds. Any advice to reduce the smell of food and to avoid attracting animals to base.

Cook somewhere else... Pee around your camp.... Use ziplocks to contain smells... Use thoso odorants that gets animals away

I hang my food bag a few hundred yards from camp. I also try keeping a fire lit all night. I never have any problems on the trails. I have my dog with me. I had a bear charge me once while I was fishing on a stream but my dog distracted it while I booted the fuck out of there. Came back later with a park ranger to get my stuff and find my dog. I whistled for him and he came around. Don't know what I would do without him.

Thank goodness the bear didn't kill your dog. Sounds like an awesome camping bro.

This. Also mothballs can sometimes help if your in an active area.

If I'm out for a week or so I'll eat 4-5 days worth of food on the first day so that I don't have to carry it. Saves a lot of weight and I have never had trouble with predators.

I just piss around my camp, only problems I've had was from a horse staring at me while I sleep.
(Apparently horses do that if they are alone, something to do with pack mentality and how they sleep, one will keep watch)

I'm the baddest fucker in the forest, long as you know that, and keep a gun, you'll be fine.

Oh! No, one time I had a panther creep up on me, grabbed my .45 and told him to go fuck himself, and he left.

I've never seen or even heard stories of bears attacking dogs. I've even seen videos on YouTube of little Dachshunds scaring off 800lb Grizzlies. Dogs are a good protection in the woods against large predators, but they are fucking stupid and always try playing with a snake or porcupine so you have to be careful.

It's a good thing Arabs hate the outdoors, otherwise you'd be fucked.

Wew lad, I'm an atheist living in Israel. Kebab made from spoiled meat should always be removed.

Fuck off, stupid goy

No religion is a religion of peace besides Buddhism. But to consider all Arabs Muslims makes you an ignorant Trump lover.

When are we going to stop ignoring problems because not 100% of a group is a part of it? Becoming complacent
because you are afraid to question something is a very dangerous game.

If even 1 million muslims are radical then there is a huge fucking muslim problem.

Stop trying to shoah me, you fucking antisemite. Even Buddhists are trying to remove kebab from their countries. Why? Because even "educated" mainstream Muslims (Ahmadis are fine) can't coexist with the rest of humanity. They must be purged, damn it.

I believe racists feel the same way about black people.

My great aunt and uncles golden retriever got mauled by a mother bear. Tried to tree it like any of the others. He also jumped on a porcupine and got stuck full of quills. He wasn't the brightest.

I hike with a bear can when bears are awake. We have loads of bears here in SE AK.

Seems to work fine they seldom fuck with me.

How do you deal with a bear situation when with a dog? I've been told to remain quiet and keep the dog between you and the bear. The bear will think the dog is protecting you and making noise would make the bear think otherwise and ignore the dog.
>>
>>709355
The biggest problem in the mountains is rodents
They're small, sneaky, and can chew through almost anything

>ITT pee everywhere
That does nothing

>>709407
>I hang my food bag a few hundred yards from camp
Serious bears will grab it, and you will not be there to scare them off
>>
i never do shit about it. one time two dogs came around in the fog, one came up and was letting us pet it while the other made off with the hot dogs. we couldn't see the thief with the thick fog, good plan. the decoy dog just up and ran off when its pal got all the food. they came around a few more times that night.

Stop derailing. I'm genuinely asking for advice on something useful. I neither agree nor disagree with your statements, but stick to the actual topic at hand.
