Hey /out/, question for you. I work at a golf course during the summer, and oftentimes I end up working in the rain. I have a light jacket that I've used before to stay dry, but it's a cheap one and it's pretty shitty. I'm asking for advice on what jacket I should buy, keep in mind that I'm looking to spend as little as possible for the best protection from rain, but also pretty free range of motion, also I'm in Canada. Thanks /out/.
Pic related: it's the Viking one that I bought from Mark's Work Warehouse.
Get a poncho tarp. If you ever get lost you can build a shelter out of it. You never know when you'll go from golf course to lost man. Always best to be prepared.

I bought this and am very happy with it after a year of heavy use. Only 60 bucks and it is the same design, same materials as the 120 dollar north face equivalent. Not very breathable though, you will get hot in warm weather. Breathability will cost you. For 60 bucks though this jacket is amazing.

Looks good, problem is I'm in Canada and Dicks doesn't ship here

>tfw every outdoor gear company in Canada has jacked their prices up so high you'd think everything was lovingly handcrafted by a unionized anarchist collective of hermetic virgin dwarves working deep underneath a mountain in the most inaccessible part of Svalbard
Fucking Saudis driving down the price of oil tho, they've really fucked our dollar in the ass.
Marmot Precip or something similar. Lightweight, breathable, waterproof, and it doesn't look too bad.

Yeah, everything I've checked out has been either dirt cheap and shit quality, or looks amazing and will practically suck my dick while wearing it, but costs more than my house

Look on the bright side. At least Alberta is getting the worst of it.

Doesn't mean the rest of us still aren't getting fucked

If you do in fact work in golf you should be able to get PUD out of your vendors. If you can't, ask the shop staff. If this is to complex for you, sign up for promotive. Worst case Ontario you can just buy the shit. Understand that the high end rain wear is warranted for life, and you should treat it like an investment. Fuck, I've ripped sleeves off on equipment and successfully warranted the shit. Also: if you are using warranty on PUD shit you are being a nigger, so don't do it all the time.
>It never rains on the golf course, but it does piss down in torrential sheets.
marmot precip. can be regularly found on sale for $50 at sierra trading post w/ coupon codes and a couple other places.
+ breathable waterproof material and arm pit zips = not sweaty on warm days
+ looks plain enough for a golf course
+ packs small
you could also do disposable $1 rain ponchos. they'll take longer to put on and take off, be less breathable and more sweaty, but its cheap and doesn't look out of place.
also if you live in a rainy cold environment full of yuppies (any major city in canada or pacific nw) thrift stores are actually a pretty good bet for rain jackets. people donate em all the time once the dwr wears off because they can spend $200 on a rain jacket but don't know DWR comes in a can.
