You're dropped in the middle of the BLM land on the border of Nevada and california in the summer.
You have nothing on you but the clothes on your back.
How do you get water before dehydrating and dying in 3 days?
>>703556
I don't know the area you're talking about. Give me coordinates.
>>703562
Either that zone by the Amargosa River or the Death Valley region.
The point of the thread is to talk about unconventional hydration sources.

Still, I always know where I am. So I would know which direction to travel in, whether that be towards a lake, river or canal, maybe a road and hitch out. Its not the apocalypse, there's gonna be water somewhere nearby.
But for the sake of argument, I'll assume I'm lost. The desert is more or less flat, so I can see the horizon in every direction. Assuming I don't see landmarks anywhere, I'll head east because I know I'm likely to run into a highway headed toward Vegas. I'll travel exclusively at night to reduce heat exposure and sweating during the day. With no way of procuring water directly, I'll drop heavy rocks on cacti to break them open without scratching myself on the spines. If necessary, I'll do a Bear move and drink my own piss. Pretty last resort, though. This should keep me going until I get to a road, and catch a ride.

Water is literally all over the place out here.
>>704239
In death valley?
Bullshit
>>704494
Death Valley is a swamp, but God hates mormons so much he dried it up while they were passing through.
Lizard blood. Experiment with different types of leaves for dew collection. Travel only at night. Breathe out of nose, not out of mouth.
Cactus
Collecting from fog
Animal blood
Piss
Might be some moisture in the soil that you can suck out of the dirt
You'll probably die depending on how far you're from proper water sources (rivers and shit)
There's a reason why people don't live in the desert without making it sustainable for them first.

is there green stuff? then there is water...
there's trash everywhere.. im sure if you walked for enough time you'd run into some plastic, some rocks, and some sort of container [you don't really need the container but it helps]
just do the dip method by putting crushed green leafs in a dug hole and a plastic sheet over top with a rock in the middle of the plastic so the water drips into your container. /water/
Go back to /n/, bacon

Cactuses usually cause mad amounts of intestinal distress. You'll shit yourself to death and die of dehydration faster
>>703556
I live in Las Vegas on Durango and 215. If you're dropped out in the desert in the summer with nothing you're fucked.
I go hiking out here often and there are so many unprepqred people requiring search and rescue in the summer.

I'd walk home.
I live here.

Get to civilization.
I got to visit Death Valley last February, and I remember hearing the ranger talk about how you'd be dead before you got to the end of the dunes and back without water during the summer.
I still dream about that place. I want to go back so badly it hurts.
I'm not going to start a new thread but was wondering...
If you're going on a backpacking trip, how much water do you pack per day of your planned trip?
Do you bring a purification system? If so, what?
>>703556
>california
>summer
>implying the rule of 3's is applicable
Come on anon. It's like 1.5-2 days for this scenario if you are doing anything other than waiting to die.
>>705064
Don't drink piss, it just dehydrates you more. Pee on your clothes instead, so you get the evaporative cooling effect. That way you end up sweating less.
>>717274
Definitely for piss that is darker than light yellow, but my understanding was that clear to slightly yellow was god for 1 more pass through without negative effects.
