Maybe I'm a fucking idiot, but how do you set up a poncho like a tarp? I get the basics, but what about the hood? How do you keep it from leaking through that?
Tie the hood with cordage ....
My friend has two milsurp ones I think they're polish, they combine to make what I think he called a lavi. Was like a 2-3 man round house and was very warm. All you needed extra was to fashion up a stick for one center pole. Neat huh
One for your hammock and one for your ground cloth. Perfect

Who the fuck buys a poncho for $100? I have a milsurp one that I spent 20 dollars on and its lasted me going on 8 years now, and I'm a professional storm chaser.

Ponchos are used mostly in the military, they are preferred over a tarp for their multi purposes and they can be set up really low and fast, hiding any silhouette.

Many modern ponchos are too short. But I still like them as the most versaltile item.
