who's the most /out/ musician? what kind of music, if any, do you guys like to listen to when you're hiking and camping?
pic related, young bob dylan
>>
>listen to music while hiking
This is not something I do

I'd rather use all my senses instead of being aurally cocooned in a safe music hugbox
>>
>>680307
I dont listen to music when im hiking either. But when around camp i sometimes turn on folk/blues/bluegrass/rock n roll or any combination thereof. Such as grateful dead, bob dylan, muddy waters, hillstomp, agnostic mountain gospel choir, ocms. On one occasion i listened to riders on the storm by the doors while hunkered down through one of the most intense storms ive experienced while backpacking.
>>
>>680359
same.

listen to music around camp when I am partying with friends but that's it.
>>
all of you are lying, because if you were unable to immediately post your ruckup or marching songs, then you arent out. the hymns that keep you moving

Listening to Neil Young by the campfire is god tier
>>
>>680307
dude, the fucking microphones. He constantly talks about how the water was warm, the mountains are cold/far, the universe sees him, eternal night, "The disgusting feel of electric heat etc.
>>
>>680307
Dylan was a Nancy and his music is overrated rubbish.
>>
>>680529
he mightve been a nancy, but like a rolling stone is almost prophetic. a soft soul can still be like a mountain
>>
>>680540
Dylan was like a mountain of shit
>>
>>680542
so basically you are a faggot calling a faggot a faggot. who better qualified i guess
>>
>>680529
This desu, he's a tremendous cunt with an annoying voice. Only good thing he ever did was writing All Along the Watchtower, and his version was objectively shit.

Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden
Very contemplative album. Soundscapes. Jazzy, a little of rock from time to time. Large song.
I put my cellphone in my bag so I can still here the birds. I play it only when I get to my fishing place.

This might be the only proper song in the album https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cIWsQuYVeg

While I don't often listen to music while /out/.... but for the ride there, the Blitzen Trapper discog is my go to. Its got rock n roll to more rustic stuff which I like.

Easily this. Reminds of that one time Anon posted his shitty diy garden fence on here. I imagine this is the montage of it's construction.
>>
Sure Burzum and Neil Young are great picks but I
I recommend you guys check out the 'Ocean Songs' record by Dirty Three.
I would imagine it would sound great hiking with headphones on.

Townes van Zandt

Good, but I don't think anything he wrote was /out/ music. It's all about interpersonal relationships or depression.

all good reasons to go outside

Well, then lets crucify the moron who handed him a guitar. Keep it on the paper, Zimmerman.

Bob Dylan was a great songwriter but a shitty performer. This is a fact. That is why everybody covers his songs and they end up way better.

This... He also harassed Woody Guthrie on his death bed, so he's also a piece of shit with no respect for the people he plagiarized. People like him because they don't understand folk music, but want to pretend they do.
>>
>>681134
Is literally retarded and makes shitty "music".
>>

dude you are so lame.

I love taking field recordings in nature.

>>
>>682117
>This... He also harassed Woody Guthrie on his death bed

can you elaborate a bit on that? Did a quick google search and the only thing I find is

>"The "dust bowl troubadour" – author of this This Land is Your Land, whose guitar bore the legend "this machine kills fascists" – had himself almost reached the end of the road: he was now in his fourth year at the Greystone Park Psychiatric hospital in New Jersey, suffering from Huntingdon's disease, which finally led to his death in 1967. But Dylan hunted him out there, and the two men met – Guthrie apparently giving Dylan a card after their first meeting saying: "I ain't dead yet." Dylan wrote, and played to his idol, a new piece of his own called Song to Woody. It met with the older man's approval and was one of only two original compositions that made Dylan's 1962 debut."

which hardly sounds like harassing. Am I missing something?

Boards of Canada really puts images of the great outdoors in my head, especially their album The Campfire Headphase.

I wouldnt say i listen to boards of canada while actually out, but last summer after a week of backpacking in the smoky mountains the first music i played on the drive to town was boards of canada, i believe the song was from either the album hi scores or music has the right to children. either way, it was unforgettable watching lush mountain peaks disappear behind one another while driving down listening to this.

Speaking of /out/-tier musicians, Woody himself is a good choice. Spent a ton of his younger years riding around on trains and sleeping outdoors, and he spent a year completely naked in Florida, writing his completely incoherent second novel.

>be me

Anyway, you should hear the Del McCoury cover. It's fucking awesome. The original is good, too, but I also like the bluegrass version.

It was just OK until the clarinet solo. That won me over.

Heard this band in a fly fishing vid a long time ago and the music really enhanced the adventurous vibe of the film. It's not outdoorsy in the classical sense, but I enjoy it and it gives me those /out/ feelings.

That part is kind of weird, but the group overall is very /out/

I've read accounts which claim Dylan visited him regularly, and Guthrie would jump back and forth between appreciating the visits and hating him.

But really it's twisting the facts to claim that as harassment.
>>
>no one suggesting Stan Rogers

The most /out/ musician by a fucking mile.
