What is a reliable offline GPS app?

Some anon posted this a little over a year ago. I've downloaded the ap, and looked up maps. To be honest, it's a bit of work, but I'm going to plug away at it next time I have down time.

I'm working on turning my spare phone into a dedicated /out/ device. Got a life proof case for it for 10 bucks on woot!

I've been using Backcountry Navigator, does everything I need it to. It's $12 I think, but you can use the free version. I don't remember what features aren't in the free version.

the free version carefully monitors your movement until it determines that you're way off the beaten path. Then it requires you to go to the appstore and pay up... or never get home.
