Having an issue finding a fine task knife. I am looking for a 2in blade with a 3in-3.5in handle that is also a horizontal draw. Any ideas? Pic is of the closest I could find, but it is a bit too long, and doesn't look to be horizontal draw.

Ever thought of finding a knife you like, tossing the sheath it came with, then get some blank kydex and making your own sheath?

Shit, you could heat that shit up and bend it your the exact spot on your hip, ala cutom fit.
>>
>>656940
"You probably have a knife in mind that is SUPER close to what you want but the the sheath isnt"

that's really what I'm trying to get at
>>
>>656941
Yeah close enough. I think I am going to end up spending another 50 to get a proper sheath for it. It was going to be worn at the 11 o'clock position so it would be a cross draw.

I think the izula II can be drawn horizontally or at least you can purchase a sepcial sheath for it

You should look at the Esee candiru knife. Pic related, here are the specs. Which has the 2 inch blade and the 3 inch handle.

Overall Length: 5.13"
Cutting Edge Length: 2.0"
Weight: 1.7 Ounces
Drop Point Blade Style
Maximum Thickness: .125"
1095 Carbon Steel - 55-57 Rc.
Textured Powder Coat Finish
Skeletonized Handle
Molded Sheath

Just get some scales for the handle, you're golden. Also same price as an Izula 2 with no scales also.

Was going to say the same thing.

Candiru sounds like your knife

a very unsung hero here, the TOPS MSK.

it's a much better fine task knife than the Izula, and is a far more comfortable grip
>>
>>657131
I love the look of those tops knives.

I really want to get the B.O.B. but can't really justify another knife.
>>
>>656931
Go and look through an online catalogue yourself, it's that easy.
>>
Damnnnnn I remember buying that kit with the knife. I still have it and I forgot how I got it. Seeing that reminded me.

Sadly I lost my izula. It was a decent knife. A little thick but felt solid. Ah good times

What are you, Sam fucking Fisher?
Also, why don't you make your own sheath. Any monkey can do it.

I have a bone to pick with this.
I own both an Izula 2, and a tops msk.

The handle on the izula 2 is better IMO - it fills your hand much better in a variety of grips. The handle on the TOPS MSK is very comfortable in the saber grip, but not as good as the IZULA II in hammer, or reverse (upside-down, not icepick) grip.

the MSK does have a more narrow, and thinner (1/8 vs 5/32) blade, and is more pointy.

That said, see attached picture for a better option. The coyote is way ahead of the MSK as a fine task knife, and the next gen is better than the izula in every way possible. Unfortunately, that also means more expensive - you are looking at around 130 dollars (the standard coyote is 115 IIRC, the desert ironwood version I have is 150).

Regarding OP's picture and predicament:

the Izula, and the NEW candiru (i have one of those as well) can be carried horizontally. Old candiru came with a crappy nylon sheath, new ones use molded plastic, like the izula - you can use tac-lok (hope I spelled that correctly) mounts, or the mounting plate in OP's picture, and carry the knife horizontally.
>>
FYI, wrapping some cord through the holes on the sheaths you get with the Esee 3, Izula, Izula 2 and Candiru so you can scout carry them is super easy if you're looking at them and worrying about the sheaths. I can post mine if you want to see. There's also the Tek-Lock option if you're looking at something else.
>>
>>657141
horizontal draw though?
>>
>>657342
Yeah been looking into the tek lok stuff. Wish I could find someone local that sells them so I could play with one first.

Might fit a teklok. Works great for horizontal ( pic on my RAT 3)

Or, you can screw pieces of webbing thru the sheath holes (pic on my Izula)
>>
>>657424
Huh, never thought of the webbing before. It was just lately that I started to consider the 11 o'clock cross draw after seeing MCQ Bushcraft do it a few times. Stuck me as a really convenient way to EDC out or not. His is a leather sheath and I would rather have the retention of a thermoplastic of some kind.

How do you like the saber grind?
