We have alot of amazingly /out/ states in this great nation we call the USA. but which would you say is the best? take all geographic features into consideration when you make your decision.

my vote? Oregon is pretty damn /out/.
>rolling hills
>cascade mountains
>next to the fucking ocean
>not too far north for it to get fucking freezing but not too far south for it to get humid as shit
8/10 would consider moving there

Anything Rockies West.
>>
Massachusetts bitch
>>
>>646734
For the west, definitely northern New Mexico.

For the Midwest, Wisconsin/Upper Peninsula Michigan

For the East, Maine.

For the south..don't really know what's down there. Arkansas/Georgia kinda looks cool.
>>
>>646734
California from the Lost Coast to Big Bear and everything in between. You want snow, you got it. You want temperate rainforest, we got it. You want desert and mountains?

California is the best followed up by Hawaii and Alaska.
>>
>>646734
The northern half of arizona is absolutely beautiful. But the southern half is a shithole.
>>
>>646734

WA state.
Got mountains.
Ocean.
A rain forest.
Lots of forests.
A dessert.
>>
>>646755
Californian here, and I'm going to have to vote Alaska. Too many damn restrictions here, too many people.
If you want climate diversity, sure, go California, but Alaska is the ultimate in what it provides.
>>
>>646761
Restriction? What do you mean, just do whatever when you're far out enough. I've never faced any issues once I go off deep enough.
>>
Europe; because the hunters here aren't such desperate incapable fuck ups that they'll shoot at rustling bushes.
>>
>>646759
This. WA trumps OR because it has everything OR has, plus The Puget Sound and the Olympic National Park rainforest. Also, The Northern Cascades are better than anywhere in the cascades in Oregon.

Alaska is fucking incredible, but fuck the winters. An old high school friend of mine moved there, and he has seriously seen -52 for a HIGH temp in the winter before. But Alaska in the summer is gorgeous.

Alaska is best. Everything here is geared towards the outdoors, and we have the most wilderness of all the states. Most people live here for the outdoors, so the culture and laws are lax because people respect the woods. Yeah, the winters can suck depending on location, but if they are too bad just live in the southeast, the winters are really mild there.

Your right, but i havent been all that far north in ontario either. But it has the ideal mix of warm summers, brutal winters and forests and lakes for days which is all that i crave.

Mountains are cool to look at but ontario has some high hills and cliffs that are good enough for me

Where is this Washington desert you speak of? Been probably to every part of the state, having lived in PACNW for 40 years. Must've missed it. Also, Oregon beats WA any day. More variety in landscape and climate and just in general better. Olympic Forest is great minus the rain though.

Since this is /out/ I'll ignore most of the /pol/ shit flying about in this thread.

BC and Alberta are clearly home to the best /out/ regions in North America. Coastlines, deserts, rainforests, taiga, numerous mountain ranges (the Rockies being the best of), badlands, plains, grasslands, all with low population densities (outside of lower mainland BC; what a liberal cuck shithole).

Alaska would be trailing close behind I think IMO.

Other than the badlands, Alberta doesn't really have much that you can't get in BC. But I've only lived in the prairies so maybe there's sc/out/s who think grasslands and plains are super cool.
Also, the islands around the Georgia Strait are really awesome and if you can bring yourself to tolerate the weird hippy culture there, it's totally worthwhile.

>>647165
That sucks if you're telling the truth. I hiked up a mountain around Banff/Canmore (pic related) and it was great but I was looking forward to even better hikes in other parts of BC, considering there's more to choose from. I'd like to know what mountain ranges in North America have decent peaks can be hiked by foot in a day or two with 50lbs of cheap gear other than the east Rockies?

Did you just say Oregon has more variety of climate than Washington? And you missed the Washington Desert? The entire columbia basin is semi-arid desert. If you drive from Seattle to Spokane, you spend fucking 2 hours driving through it.

But more variety of climate? Washington has the same sandy coast as Oregon, The Cascades are bigger, more and larger Volcanoes, a rainforest which oregon doesnt have, and they both have semi arid deserts in the east

Been all over the East coast and midwest. You guys are just funny that way I suppose. There's clearly some beautiful places out there. I've hiked and camped up and down a lot of places east of the rockies. Personal favorites were aisle royale and some of the rolling hills in Tennessee are really nice.

Adding swamps is pretty retarded though. Even some of the forest in those areas are terrible. West ground, humid, gross. Our "rainforests" in the PacNW are pretty wet at times, but MUCH more comfy to camp and hang out in than over there. Plus snakes. Fuck having 10 different snakes that want to kill you.

Beyond that though, you really probably just need to come out here. I roll up and down the west coast and am still in awe at times and I've been here for 4 decades. Colorado and Wyoming are pretty great too. But really, Norcal and Oregon are where it's at for diversity. In a day I can drive from coast to rainforest to regular forest to high desert/forest to high desert, to desert, etc. etc.

You can find pics from Oregon that look like almost every other state in the union, minus tropical climates obviously.

Duluth, MN was voted the best outdoor city in the country by Outdoors magazine. I live across the bay in Superior, WI. The entire Arrowhead area of Minnesota is really great.

False, northwest Oregon is what you're describing. I grew up in Oregon, anything within a few hundred miles of California and/or east of the Cascades is high desert and filled with Trump supporters.

I've had good times /out/ in Wyoming, Texas, New Mexicanland, Arizona, California, North Carolina/Tennessee border area, Colorado, and even Kentucky. Since I'm a desert rat at heart, I'd say the western half of Texas across to the edge of the desert in California is my favorite area. BBNP is my favorite NP. Mountains and desert making sweet, sweet love.

Oregon however, has an island in a lake, inside a volcano, on the PCT... crater lake.

Maps are great, but in practice, having been from end to end and top to bottom in wisconsin, it ain't that great. Upper 15 or so percent of the state is decent.

And the UP kills any area in Wisconsin. Sad part is, you're probably right, and when Michifags start talking about how great their state is, they rarely even talk about the UP. It's laughable. You probably do win the midwest though. Boundary waters gives Minnesota a few bonus stars.
