A Finn recommended Marttiini knives to me for hunting. Does /out/ have any experience with them?
Scandi grinds are good for beginners to sharpen.

The knives are ok
But the sheaths suck
The belt loop is not strong and can break at the pivot point,
No snap, nothing to lock the blade in the sheath. Means the knife can come out when walking,
Scandi grinds are product of easy of manufacture, not practical function.
It's allows manufactures to take $0.30 of steel and turn it into a useable blade for the minimum tooling costs.
Spending more than $20 on scandi ground knife is a meme.

yea bruh you gotta have a tactical kydex sheath otherwise it will just fly out.

or you know a classic leather sheath with something insane like retention built in. Not everyone wears their knife under their coat.

I've only ever used one for fishing. For hunting you don't really want a scandi grind. Not very good for skinning. I recommend a sharpfinger for hunting. Or a classic buck 110.

I'm a finn. Scandi grind knives like Marttiini puukkos are superior when processing wood (whittling), but for hunting I would recommend something with synthetic handle for easy cleaning and better grip. Tbh hollow and full flat grinds are faster to sharpen and more suitable for hunting.

Steel requirements for a scandi grind are higher. Yet, you can get a proper scandi grind for $50, I think.

Belt loop snapping, nope for this martini :D served me well so far. Now I need to do some cleaning. Was very cheap for how nice it has been.
One piece handle that wont give you blisters, but this one is not full length tang, has a fingerguard tho. Very easy to carve things. Can be sharpened to a very nice edge. The metal choice in this one is literally no maintenance.
This has never fell from its sheath. It's very deep inside the sheath. The sheath squeezes it a little bit.
I dont know a lot about the metals that martini uses for the knives, but while its zero maintenance its a little brittle. I will drop another picture in a sec..
This is literally the heaviest knife I have ever held in my hands, its very thick in all the wrong places..
While I do not recommend batoning EVER, I tested it with this, results can be seen in the pic. desu, that wasn't my knife :P
