We all know what /out/ thinks of Bear Grylls; what do you guys think about Les Stroud, Survivorman?
>>
What do you think you namefagging douche?
>>
>>640138
I like him, nice guy irl.

Many think he's too dramatic, I kind of get his reasoning (people see the show and think "oh it's just like camping").

At some point someone's going to bring up the forum that had a few guys that went to one of les' survival sites, but nobody ever brings up his response. If you're going to bring that up, at least post his response.
>>
>>640138
pretty cool though i hate the wat when he gets small game he burns the fuck out of it.....and i also hate when he talks about the burden it is to carry around all his camera gear.

what was it?
>>
He is extremely authentic, knows what he's doing.
>>
Found this news report on Les:

>In October 2001, Les Stroud met with the families of 9/11 victims. After a brief interview in which he expressed his condolences and hopes for closure, he reportedly burst out laughing and made airplane noises and mimicked two planes crashing. He then picked up the child of a deceased victim and whispered into her ear "Your dad's dead, bitch" then proceeded to put on a pair of sunglasses and release a barrage of martial arts attacks on the small child. She was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead due to extreme trauma. When asked later about the incident, Stroud became visibly sexually aroused and repeated the same attack on the reporter.
>>
>>641252
>If you're going to bring that up, at least post his response.
You already brought it up, so what's his response? Up to now I didn't think he had one.
>>
>>640138

I like him. I like Alfieasthetics or MCQbushcraft more.
>>
First time I watched him was in 2005, it was a 2004 episode in Utah. Hell I'm watching him right now. I like the guy. He does not take stupid risks, has several shows and is very fucking respectful of everyone and everywhere he goes.

Great fucking guy

>>641304
That never happened. He called the girl a whore not a bitch.
>>
Is op fuck going to do them all one by one in a new thread each time?

Fuck you, op!
Why do you care what anon think?

What you think matter. State that in op for discusdion and derision.
>>

Nicely original. So real because internet!

Do the copy pasta about shoplifting multitool!

> Many fucks given.
>>
>>641304

i heard he could've saved someone from drowning but stopped it because "the sea has claimed her" or some weird shit. is he an occultist?
>>
>>641519
> mfw the Debil owns a multitool

Basically his shows are edited for entertainment. If it was real survival for 1 week, he could find water hunker down in a shelter for a week and do jack shit. That's not a show though.

Things are edited for entertainment. Hes given situations to demonstrate survival techniques.

Yes he has a radio and can get help. Hes filming a show, he's not REALLY surviving. That's fine. Get over it. Hes nor going to die on camera just to validate his authenticity.

Doesn't change the fact that he knows his shit. His shows are fun to watch, and he seems like a decent guy. Plus he plays a mean harmonica.

Tikaboo is easily explained – some assumptions were made that were incorrect – other parts were correct but did not detract from my actual survival – as for one simple point – i am often in the vicinity of traffic and roads – and in fact on one occasion – Georgia – i could hear the trucks downshifting IN Ticaboo i couldn’t hear anything but i could’ve walked out any time i wanted too – and on another i had to pass by cottages to continue my way into the wilderness – the point is I stay in and carry out my survival as that is what i am there for – for another point there have been two episodes in fifteen years where i wanted desperately to show the ecological differences in two areas but they were too far apart and so i allowed a truck to pick me up – drive an hour (with a strict rule to not have food or water on them) and drop me off to continue my survival – i actually hated doing that so i decided to never do that again – Ticaboo was one of those locations (the other shall remain a mystery) …and lastly – i often dont clean up after myself when i leave a place but my team is instructed to come in later and clean up for me – they have not always honoured this

unfortunately – i can’t remember what else was said about Ticaboo but i think those were some of the concerns….in fact over the years my attention to detail of making sure i am as far out and as remote and dealing with life or death risk, has gotten stronger – but i have refused to fake what i do…its not always easy to find a remote spot but i always stay in and do what i do – in the beginning the networks had more sway and even tried to influence my narration scripting – after a few times of losing the odd battle to them i vowed and have achieved to this day only saying what i want to say – which is to simply tell the story as it happened while on occasion sifting out of the edit of the show the insignificant moments (like being able to hear traffic) – and often if i can walk out i will actually say – “i can walk out of here” but then again i am there to survive…..I hope that helps Kyle….L

Here's the site I got that from

http://outsidebynature.com/main/les-stroud-fake/

I looked at everything on the page, still a fan.
Remember that episode of family guy when Peter and Chris are standing in a store by some keyboards for sale? Then Peter starts the demo track and starts pretending to play, making a joke to Chris. A customer comes along and sees Peter and hears the music. The customer says something like "that's amazing!" and Peter stops playing and says "huh?" then the customer gets mad and says "you're a big fat phony! HEY THIS GUY'S A BIG FAT PHONY!"

I'm pretty sure the customer in that bit is the same guy that did all this research.

This!!. I'm not an apologist but his older TV shows were definitely him alone somewhere but to keep content original he started the "what if you were biking/hiking/car broke down" type of survival situations then he explained what he would do, this is where he had a crew of camera people.

Another thing was he took time off and I believe he wanted to actually quit doing it because he claimed it really was taxing on his body.
>>
>>641455
Alfie, we've told you not to do this... quit the shil attempt and continue masturbation over an open thesaurus in the woods
>>
>>641557

I've been watching Les for years, he was really the first of the high profile 'TV Survivalists) (Ray Mear was still seen more of a Country File bumpkin, and Les Hiddens was a generation old and on the other side of the world to most) In fairness too, he's been doing his stuff, and documenting it on camera for over 20 years now. I don't think anyone else can claim that

Don't forget he and his wife buggered off for a year to a remote spot in Canada to try and life off the land paleolithic style (no real modern tools, or gear) pretty much as soon as they got married.

Both of them ended up with a bad case of Giardia, lost a fuckton of weight and his wife got pregnant, and miscarried during the year.

I'll concede that over time what he does has evolved to become more dramatic and interesting to appeal to a wider audience but at the core, he still provides relevant info, and doesn't do risky, stupid shit.

Look at what else is out there

Dual Survival has just been axed because Joe 'muh force protection' Teti went crazy during filming and killed a dog, he's also been ousted as a liar when it comes to his military service ( you'd have thought they's have learnt from the Dave Canterbury shit) the show is all about dramatic narration and music. if you actually cut all of the re cut scenes and narration from it in an hour long show, there is maybe 15 mins or less of watchable content.

If Cody and Matt I would watch if they did a show though (Having met cody irl i can say he's a pretty chill guy and not one for the commercialism at all)

Bear Grylls, well we all know that one....he sold his soul to Gerber.

You've got other stuff like Dirty Rotten Survival which is basically Scrapheap Challenge in the woods. Dude You're Screwed

The modern Ray Mears stuff is just really about him telling stories about other people, and he doesn't really go into much detail (books and TV)
>>
>>641557
Pretty sure I remember him saying he hated going out and being alone all the time. So it was mentally taxing because he was always cutting himself off from society.
>>
Ive been watching since before I had an actual interest in the outdoors. I dont care about Ticaboo Creek, Im still a fan; not so much of the bigfoot episodes.

There are four parts to this story, follow the links on the page.
>>
>>642049
Have you watched Alone ? It was a show on History, competition between like a dozen guys to see who could stay out in the bush the longest and they all had to film themselves Les Stroud style.
>>
>>642049
> Joe 'muh force protection' Teti went crazy during filming and killed a dog
He was protecting a cat though. He didn't just go rampage, wheter you agree with his decision or not it was made to protect something
>>
>>640138
when he came to my country he spent like five of seven days in the episode inside a car. boring shit, but the show had some good info if i remember correctly.
>>642212
what an idiot. reminds me of a story from the local paper. family see deer chased by lynx, tries to save it with the result that it slowly drowns on an icy lake and the much more rare lynx goes home hungry. don't interfere with nature, faggots

All you plebs...not watching the superior Alfieasthetics.

#1 thats not even a CNN story its a user's blog.

"I believe Joe is a sociopath [who] could be dangerous to those he believes have injured him," writes Sgt. 1st Class Daniel McClain, Teti's former team sergeant, in a letter to the Special Forces Association that is part of a formal response in an ongoing lawsuit.

"I knew he would always be a problem," writes Teti's former executive officer, Lt. Col. William Sharp, in another letter, part of the SFA's 50-page rebuttal to the lawsuit filed by Teti late last year.

Sharp, now with U.S. Special Operations Command, writes that he was preparing paperwork to bar Teti from reenlisting, revoke his security clearance and strip him of his Special Forces tab, before Teti left the unit on his own.

"Teti is far below Special Forces standards, he is an embarrassment to Special Forces and Special Operations," writes Sharp, listing a litany of allegations.

On his official website, Teti claims he qualified as a combat scuba diver and a HALO freefall parachutist, coveted qualifications even among the military's most elite troops.

In the SFA's Feb. 10 rebuttal to his lawsuit, the association flatly states that Teti "is not and has never been HALO or SCUBA qualified."
The Special Warfare Center message goes on to say Teti was later kicked out of a diving supervisor course for cheating on a test.

"Joe attempted to steal team and unit equipment. I made him take me to his off-post storage shed, where I recovered unit equipment he should not have had," writes Sharp, Teti's former XO.

Sharp lists, by name, 10 other senior officers and NCOs who are prepared to back up 11 specific allegations he makes against Teti.
>>
>>642938
Teti also had a reputation for passing rubber checks. "I'm talking about a lot of bad checks," writes Teti's former SF roommate, Staff Sgt. John Phillips, currently serving with 20th Special Forces Group.

Teti moved in with Philips after being asked to leave the apartment of another roommate for not paying rent and writing bad checks.

Teti was arrested for writing more than 50 bad checks prior to a 1995 deployment to Haiti, according to Sharp, who states in the documents that he paid more than $1,000 out of his own pocket to spring Teti from jail.

Sharp writes that Teti did repay him — with a bad check.

During the deployment SSG Teti was our biggest problem. He avoided going on patrols (claiming sickness.) He did not do his job or help anyone on the team. His roommates came to me and the team Sgt. on a weekly basis wanting us to move him to a different building," Sharp writes.

In October, a Texas judge granted Hawke a permanent protective order against Teti, finding reasonable grounds that Hawke "has been the victim of stalking."

The judge ordered Teti, who lives in North Carolina, to cease all communication with Hawke and his family, except through lawyers. The order also prohibits Teti from possessing firearms or ammunition.

"The Iredell County [North Carolina] Sheriff's Department confirmed to me that Mr. Teti's concealed carry permit in North Carolina has been suspended pursuant to the lifetime protective order of which he is bound," writes Hawke's attorney Chris Gabel.

"I need to stress that the protective order and the restrictions for Mr. Teti to not possess firearms or ammunition was most urgent due to his history of stalking and violent threats."

This week, Cabela's hunting and sporting goods chain, which sponsored the reality star, severed their relationship with Teti.

"In light of the Special Forces Association's revocation of Joe Teti's membership, Cabela's has ended its association with Teti," the company stated on its Facebook page.

According to Military Times, Teti has been added to the "Special Forces Poser Patrol" Wall of Shame, and the watch maker Casio, which signed Teti in August to promote their new line of Pro Trek watches, is reviewing their association with him.

Teti told the Army Times that he served in a government counter terrorism unit "doing direct action missions right alongside Tier 1 assets."

But Scott Hughes, an administrator at the Fake Warrior Project, and one of the first to call out Teti, isn't buying it.

"Joe is making money off these false claims and that is a problem," Hughes told FOX411. "He is now claiming that his membership ran out, but he was sent a certified letter and told he had 30 days to appeal the claims against him, but he didn't do that."

Longstanding member of the Special Forces Association, retired Army Sgt. Major George Davenport, has since called Teti "an embarrassment to the Regiment."
