Anyone /sweden/ here? I'm planning a trip to Stockholm next year and I'm looking for some trails to walk (partially). Currently looking at Sörmlandsleden, Upplandsleden or Roslagsleden. All 3 are relatively close to Stockholm I think?

Also, is it worth going all the way north just to do Kungsleden?

I'll be going July/August/September by the way.

Som stockholmare råder jag dig att inte komma hit, alla vandringsleder häromkring är antingen fulla med folk eller så är det bara massa fulla tonåringar där.

no doubt there'll be real swedes with way more info but i went canoeing there a month or two back and shit was awesome. slept in little shelters like your pic and it was very nice indeed.

Was it like Deliverance but in reverse? You met some Swedish hillbillies and sexually dominated them?
>>
I would advise against. they are housing weaponized rape machines all over Sweden including those little cabins
>>
>>627488
seems like sweden is mostly flat pussy mosquito ridden pine forests, you should come to norway instead and check out some fjords or mountains
>>
>>627638
This depends.
have done fair amounts of /out/ing in Sweden.Stockholm area is boring flat and over populated. I reccommend the Sweden/Norway border areas instead. Mountains and undisturbed forest and if you are into geo there are a lot of abandoned silver mines (how the swedish empire made their money in the past) and therefore a lot of areas to spelunk/urb-expl. It is also possible to find lumps of silver if you know where to look. The high mountain areas also have wild reindeer herds.

Translation of this guy's reply:
>"As a Stockholmer I don't advice you to come here, all the trails around here are either full of people or drunken teenagers."
>>
>>627649
yeah we're looking futher north now! Flying to Norway is way more expensive so I'm leaning more towards walking Kungleden now. My gf is walking with me and is a complete beginner, so the safety of a popular trail will be good for her.

>My gf is walking with me and is a complete beginner, so the safety of a popular trail will be good for her.
It's Scandinavia, anon. Even the wildlife is harmless. Don't worry about safe or not safe.
>>
>>628238
>Norway is way more expensive
In more ways than one. Watch out for insane bus tickets and expensive food. Hitchhiking works if you travel with your girlfriend.
>>
>>628238
I walked a small part of the Kungsleden two years ago while in Jokkmokk for a month of workawaying.

Its fairly easy going but still has its difficult moments, i would highly recommend going North, the south is crowded and i thought a bit shit. Plus when you get to camping sites in the north everyone is really nice and the facilities are amazing. I worked on a site called Årrenjarka Fjällby AB which was awesome.

Yeah fuck Stockholm.
Norrland is where it's at.
>>
>>628261
This. Hiking is stockholm is pretty much dead, I'd suggest going either further west if you like the pine forest, or further north if you like the vastness of the swedish fjäll

Fjällen is the place to vandra, annars paddlar man hela dalaälven, funkar det oxå, eller så tar man skogsvägen mellan 2 kommuner som en riktig outare

Though boars and bears with cubs are still pretty dangerous. Just make your precense known to them and everything will be ok.

Currently doing sörmlandsleden in weekend sections, longest trip 8 days. Once you get out of the first 10 or so sections its basically wilderness. saw two people on my 8 day trip. Absolutely beautiful, but perhaps a little much of the same. Not an issue if you do <10 sections however.

Dumping some pics because why not. 1/8

Ofcourse im cherrypicking, most of the trail was little more than game paths through the sticks. Plenty of beauty to be found there too but it dont photograph too well, atleast not with my nokia potatophone 1020.

thanks bruh!

Backpack is an Everest 60l that I got for about 60$ (sale) and could not be more happy with. Pic related.
Acceptable weight at just under 2kg and features you would normaly find on more expensive packs,
such as front opening mesh pockets with elastic loop for water bottles etc. Could not be more happy with it.
Sadly they dont make it anymore, they've replaced it with a 65l ready for bladder (which I don't like).
From what I've experienced with my model I would definately recommend it though.

I decided early on to splurge on a pad since sweden gets pretty cold,
so I went with a thermarest xtherm. Got it on sale too for about 180$.
High five myself everytime I use it to congratulate myself for wise spending.

Autumn sleeping bag is a cheap synthetic, old and shitty and only rated to about 5+,
but I haven't decided on which downbag to get yet. Use a Sea to summit Reactor with it for cold nights.
For summer I've got a snugpak jungle bag.

Sometimes bring friends along, mostly not. Most people I know enjoy being out in nature and camping,
but not for more than one or two nights so if I'm going on a week long trip I'm going alone.

>>631996
Do it! Would never recommend living here to anyone else but nature wise it's pretty based

Since this is a Sweden thread, I might aswell ask my fellow swedes some out related questions that I'm to lazy to google.

First of all, I just got my hunting license and a 22lr. Looking to get a Beretta hagelbock soon aswell. So, what is the most /out/ hunt that I can do as a non-landowner that's not crazy expensive? Like with tent /campfire/trianga, the whole nine yards. I've heard good things about ripjakt, maybe a good starting point?
Anyone have experience with that kind of hunt?

My ultimate hunting fantasy would be loading up a kajak with a tent/tarp and supplies, strap a gun to it and go hunt/explore for a few days.
Is this possible to do in Sweden for someone who doesn't own land?

>>632927

What part of kungsleden would you recommend if you had to pick a 50-100 km trail?

We're not going right now, just planning ahead so we can get a good price on the plane tickets. I read on the Kungsleden website the huts stay open until mid September. We'll be going early to mid September so we should be fine right?
>>
>>632965
I've decided on the first 100km for our hike. Start in Abisko, end in Nikkaluokta. It's accessible from Kiruna and the pictures look amazing.

Got up really late one day, got on a ferry to Gotland, it pulled into Visby at midnight, wasn't tired at all and was going to visit a friend who lived 60km south of Visby, decided to bike during the night.
Weirdest and best night on my trip, it was pea soup fog in some places and cold as fuck, other places I'd get a blast of hot air in the face. and clear air as far as the dark let me see.
And the whole night there was a meteor shower, at one point I was looking straight (south) and everything in front of me started getting lighter, turned around and there's a huge green streak flashing through the sky, breaks up into pieces after about half a second. Almost crashed into a ditch from looking too long, worth it.
