What's /out/'s preferred innawoods vehicle? Looking to drop <3k

Depends what you do, I mostly hunt and fish and haul things, so I use a truck.

Mountain bike. I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't be able to carry a truck on my back up the side of a cliff.

Just for some quick overnight stuff, nothing lengthy. Was considering a suzuki samurai (hence the pic)

They are pretty decent even with no mods. Have had a few cars with similar engines and got half a million km out of them with out even lifting the rocker cover. Check inside the radiator before buying. Any signs of rust pass it up. Not using proper coolant in these will wreck them fast.
ive had a few jeep cherokees that were great for camping, but as far as having space goes nothing beats my old suburban
I don't think I could ever find a Sammy for 3g in my area. They basically have jeep tax. You may find a trooper or montero which is fine by me but will most likely need all the maintenance ever after purchase. Most used cars might have a current oil change if your lucky but that's about it. Expect to refresh to cooling system, ball joints, tie rods, end links, hub assemblies, pitman/idler arms, and all fluids...it's a crapshoot.

Perfect for moving dead bodies.
>>626642
perfect for you and 3 buddies to go hunting for a week
Does it need to have four wheels?
>>626678
Not necessarily. I've heard Enduro's are good for the woods
>>626679
I love mine.
Retarded fast around town, highway capable (but not that much fun), but a blast innawoods.
>>626681
Dang that's pretty

I'd like to contribute by giving a shoutout to the Volvo L3314, or the later model, the Volvo C303. Pretty cheap, wont ever break, and is nigh unstoppable even innawoods. I've owned the L3314 for about two years now, and I use it as my go-to camping vehicle. The mileage isn't great as should be expected of this kind of vehicle, but damn if it isn't a joy to drive.
>pic related, the model I own
>>626627
I love that generation.

Samurai is great, but I suggest the tracker/sidekick. There are millions of them around to scavenge for parts.

>full size 4 door suv with solid axles a bulletproof engine, manual trans and gear driven transfer case
cant get better than that for innawoods
>>627244
> gear driven
NP 205, NP 208, other?
I'm thinking I'm close with NP205?
>>627244
I'm working on a 78 Bronco right now
goat
>>627251
350, SM465 trans, NP205 t-case and 14bolt SF 3/4 ton axles with 4.10 gears
>>627253
i like the broncos but imo you cant beat the squarebody GMs for the engine popularity and the compatibility with dozens of other cars not to mention the availability of parts
>>627244
What years this big whore?
winch soon

78, got her for 400 bucks running and driving. used to be an old brush truck for the fire dept, has the dual battery setup and is pretty bare bones inside (rubber floors, manual everything)
