Yeah they are, I Love the highlands and Woolf reccomend that you summit Ben Nevis in summer and IF you have the training summit it in winter.

Well, Hadrian didn't think so and neither did The Longshanks soooo idunno
monitoring this thread as I'm taking a trip at the end of next month. Hopefully hammock camping but car camping if conditions are seriously shitty.

So am I fam! Where are you going exactly?
>>619489
Not the Highlands but how are the cairngorms for novice winter camping? If I just set up a bivvy in the woods I should be fine right?
>>619509
It may be okay just make sure you're prepared
>>619510
Thanks. There's some woods only a few miles from the town I'd be getting off at so I could just walk there and beg for shelter if things went South.

Hi! I'm thinking first night in Glen Etive and then up towards Skye, maybe even further towards Torridon.
What's your plan?
I once got way lost in the cairngorms. We were on a family trip and my dad hadnt seen the need for a compass. So far so good, i don't need a compass to find my way in normal conditions. Then it got foggy as hell. Couldnt see more then 20ft.
Moral of the story : if you're going to a mountainous area, bring a fucking compass.
P.s. the highlands are fucking beautifull, have fun.

IT'S SHITE BEING SCOTTISH

WE CAN'T EVEN FIND A DECENT CIVILIZATION TO BE COLONIZED BY.

Oi! You didn't reply to my question - what's your highland camping plan?
>>619492
Cos they were feart.
Never fucking again. So overrated. It was worse than being stranded in Cairo with the sand niggers.
>>621435
you're just lucky neither of them thought it was worth it to set about you properly m80
>>619485
Cairngorms are good to walk and chain munroes and the bothies are comfy as fuck
>>619509
There aren't a hell of a lot of woods in the cairngorms though once you get deep enough, your best bet would be to go the eastern side around the Glen Derry from the Linn of Dee.
Lots of woods to set up in in that glen and some good munros are right nearby.
