Is fully synthetic oil overkill for a Mazda 3?
>Engine has 80k miles
>90% city driving
>Cold winters, hot summers
>Drive relatively aggressively from time to time
>First gen Mazda 3
>Drive around 8k miles/year
I want this car to last long but I feel the Dino oil is enough for a relatively ancient engine like this one.
Will the engine "feel" better and have better fuel economy with a nicer oil?
>>15452802
yes it's overkill in the sense that your engine doesn't NEED it.
but it is better for the car and you'll make the extra $10 back several times over because it will SLIGHTLY improve your gas mileage.

Just use synthetic. It probably came with that originally. I just used synthetic on my sister's first gen.

>Economy car
>Factory synthetic oil
Lol no
>>15452802
Do you care about your car?
>>15452907
I also care about my wallet.
>>15453103
You care about your car then.

ottawa?
>08 Maxima
>112k Miles
I always use fully synthetic, And i beat the shit out of this car and when i mean beat the shit i mean beat the shit out of it, i think im wasting my money does the engine really need it?
Pic related, when i was fixing the valve cover leak

>VQ35
>using anything but a quality synthetic
Good thing you are, they are notorious for burning oil because retards use conventional in them. Also, timing chain problems with shitty oil.
>>15452802
>put cheap tesco mineral oil into 20 year old shit box
>runs rough
>put frenchie semi synthetic oil on discount, total, engine sounds smoother.
>>15452833
this. you'll make the savings from mileage, unless your engine is burning oil.
>>15453110
I am from ottawa where u at nigga
The word "synthetic" is meaningless. Look into lubricant groups.
>>15453138
Yeah it burns no oil inbetween changes i regularly check it, also the timing chain is fine as well no noises at all on a cold morning, car still pulls hard, mobile 1 all the way

Kansas City
>>15452802
Almost all cars in the last 20 or so odd years were designed with synthetic in mind.
>>15452896
Are you retarded?
>>15453167
Why?
>engine at most, 12 years old
>ancient
>>15452802
>introduced in 2003
>ancient engine.
Fucking lol. Also, yeah you should at least use a blend.
