Is a CRX a good idea for a first car?
Will I have trouble finding parts?
Yes
No
Just install an alarm system, especially if you're in a lower class neighbourhood
yes
its a Honda
no
its a Honda
only problem is finding one in decent condition/not overpriced

yeah its basically a civic which is great for a first car
always lock your doors, get a quick release hub or an alarm cause nigs will try to steal it
>>15433887
Pretty much a reskinned civic you'll be fine.

I live in one of the safest cities in America, so as long as I don't leave I guess?
I'll still probably install an alarm though.
Should I be worried about not having airbags?
I've heard that any collision is basically instant death.
>>15433987
Airbags are added weight
It has great visibility unlike every modern car, so if you get into a collision it's your own fault
>>15434010
How is it my fault if I'm at a light and some bitch on her phone rear ends me?
I'm not worried about myself, I'm worried about everyone else hitting me.

if youre buying a car from the 80`s and talking about safety go get an s-class, a tank or get bent. 80`s and muh airbags, this fucking guy..
>>15434112
Lax, I'm just wondering if I should really care about the lack of safety.
>>15434010
i took the airbag out of my car yesterday to change the clockspring
holy fuck you are not kidding, they ARE heavy devices
>>15434125
if you believe in yourself that are able to not fuck up then its alright. if fat women in their 40`s see crashing in 80`s classis as a viable past time in your area of residence then get a mad max buzzards beetle.

>Should I be worried about not having airbags?
not really
airbags in older cars only activate during the frontal impact
also older airbags can be more dangerous than having no airbags
>>15434131
once used an airbag from an e36 to straighten a dent in the same e36. it kinda worked. still needed a bit of help from mister tree and missis rope.
I'd say yes for the most part, just be concerned about the aforementioned high theft rates.
>>15433887
Why would anyone want to steal that heap
>>15434823
Because mint ones like that are rare and Mexicans already love to steal Hondas. CRXs are pretty good platforms for tracking.
>inb4 le FWD XD
>>15433887
Used parts are fairly available in the form of civics of that generation, but they get picked very quickly at yards. Otherwise new parts are largely discontinued besides wear items.

>Implying most kids that buy this shite actually go tracking
I have two cars, one of them a CRX. I drive it a lot. I've owned it for 5 years and had other old Civics before that. It's a fun little car that gets great mileage and is super reliable... and cheap to maintain, but only because I work on it myself. Hell no, it should not be a first car. It's only a tiny bit safer than a motorcycle. I don't like to be in congested, heavily developed business-district type areas with it, because that is where all the close-calls happen. I've learned to be VERY ALERT in areas like that. Other drivers are in a hurry and can't see you, aren't paying attention, etc. I almost got t-boned by a F-350 just last week... imagine a giant chrome bumper flying RIGHT AT YOUR FUCKING FACE. In this day and age, a CRX should only be used as a backup/weekend/project/"fun" car, and only if you have tools and can work on it yourself.
