Does /o/ have a car that is mostly worthless but sentimental?
I was even offered 2500 for my shitbox explorer with 220k on it and refused.
Until a tree comes though my garage and takes it out or a woman drives into it on a day I take it out for a drive, I'll never get rid of it it.

My '99 Subaru looks like shit, is missing a whole host of trim pieces, the plastic trim is all falling off, no cup holders, hvac doesn't work, speedometer doesn't work, and the driver's seat is worn and the springs have long since given out
That being said, the engine works like a dream, the steering and handling is tight, and its done so much for me over the years that I just hate to see it go.
My insurance says that my car is totaled if it so much as touches another vehicle, but I keep driving it because she's my baby

Thats some explorer is you got offered 2500 for it with those miles. Certainly not an SOHC, everyone knows to RUN away at those miles. I don't see a V8 badge, so its not got the best engine.

Ive got a 98 5.0 AWD XLT with towing package and rear LSD. 220k miles as well, I would be surprised if I was offered more than $1500 for it even though it runs as good as anyone could expect a 220k miles truck to.

You can just grab a low mileage junkyard engine off eBay or where ever for a few hundred and install it in a weekend.
These trucks will last forever if they don't start rusting, hell thats true of most cars. But these are so popular and easy to fix its hard to actually consider one totaled even if the engine has thrown a rod.

I'm in the process of fixing bits and pieces of it at a time, I found an outback at a local junkyard that I've been using as a kind of donor car.
It's not the easiest to drive, but the seat cushion actually holds me in like a real bucket seat, and it's surprisingly comfy, and it's the most fun that I have on the road
