Don't know about the mkiv, but mkv and later models produce well over 300hp with only basic upgrades (intake, ecu reflash, exhaust).A little more work and they get enough power to loose traction on almost every situation. It doesn't seem useful, but it's scary nevertheless.
The 2.0litre turbocharged engine is rather nice imo.
