Why hasn't a car manufacturer just built a car that's better than every other car? Everyone has a bone to pick with every car - big SUVs suck gas and are slow, small cars can't carry anyone, big and fast cars are expensive and can't handle, etc.
Why can't we just have a big light SUV that can carry the same load as a pickup, that handles like a sports car, and accelerates like a supercar, on the cheap? Just have an engineering team make a 3 row SUV that can carry 1600 pounds and tow another 3000 but that weighs 2200 pounds, pulls 1.4g on the skidpad, and can go 0-60 in 3 seconds with 100 mpg, and price it at $18000 or so new so its affordable?
If Ford or GM or Toyota built this car it would stomp every other car on the market because it'd literally be the perfect car for everyone. I don't understand how they can't just build the best car
despite manfacturers tooting their own horns on a constant basis they pretty much suck at everything and anything they do and will never be able to fully deliver up to what your expectations of a personal vehicle should be

WHAT IF
All manufacturers got together to develop this universal call spreading the cost around of the necessary r&d then they all make their own slight variations of this universal car.
If it's the best design possible there would be no need for anyone to drive any other car.
