>huge rainstorm in my area
>went through like 500 feet of two feet high water in my dinky sedan
>car now sounds like a spaceship no joke
This can't be good. The noise is coming from underneath the carriage by the right wheel. Just what exactly do you think got fucked? It's too dark to take a proper look at it plus its still a downpour

What the fuck does a spaceship sound like?
>>15408012
woooooosh
>>15408012
Bsssheeeeewwwwwww
POW POW POW
Vrrrrrrrommmmmm
What do you mean by "sound like a spaceship"? Does the sound get louder with the speed or the car? Does it change with the engine rpm?
You didn't give much information to go by but I'm guessing cracked exhaust from thermal shock of the hot pipe hitting cold water.
>>15408012
The vacuum of space cannot transmit sound. OP is just fucking retarded.
>>15408012
I wish I was recording it but it sounds like WEOWEOWEOWEOWEOWEOWEOWEOWOPPPP REEE-EEEE-EEEEEEEEEEE
>>15408027
No, brakes don't trigger it, the gear does not matter nor does the speed. Making a left hand turn seemed to stop it temporarily just during the turn

Water probably washed out the grease in your suspension joints and shit. Get them lubed again.
>>15408044
Sounds like you fucked your wheel bearing.
>>15408020
where did you get this picture of me from?
>>15408044
probably washed out a wheel bearing now its rekt

>>15408055
Welp thanks guys
I had no idea I could wash out my bearings, I thought the grease was water resistant. Though it does make sense considering how fucking flooded the road was

le /r9k/ memey

If you have rear disc brakes, the water could wash off just enough grime to let the brake squeaker make such a sound. But since turning makes the sound go away temporarily, it could still be either a wheel bearing lost its grease or the disc brake squeaker.
I thought you might have sealed bearings, but have no particulars on your car. Some cars have effective seals, some do not.
See the following:

quote:
Most passenger car and light truck wheel bearing seals are not designed to keep out water that's exerting pressure against the seal (as is the case when the hub is submerged). Consequently, any vehicle (especially boat trailers) that has been driven through hub-deep water or caught in a flood should have its wheel bearings cleaned, inspected and repacked with fresh grease. This obviously isn't possible with sealed wheel bearing assemblies, so all you can do is check for play or noise and replace the unit if it has suffered damage.
