I don't know about the GT, but if it has an EJ251 buy something else.
Fuck the EJ251, horrible fucking engine.

twin turbo, sucks gas like a v8 parts for the gt and other twin turbo models are really epensive. there are faster cars for less money
>>15402607
Yeah it comes with that engine.
>>15402615
youre telling me i could get a faster car than that subaru under $2900?
>>15402615
>twin turbo
Top kek, m80. TTs never came to the US, and that obviously has US plating.
OP, they're great cars. The engines WON'T blow unless you don't put oil in it. They are strong engines. Things you'll end up doing very soon, though, are the head gasket and timing belt. While the motor is out for the head gaskets, might as well think about replacing the clutch as well.
t. former subaru mechanic.

weak oil pump drives and god aweful gearboxes that are weak as shit. there are no factory gearboxes that will handle 'dem torks the only answer is straight cut gears $$$$$
>>15402626
yes
>>15402723
Those things only apply if you track it 50k miles in a month. Normal driving and good maintenance make thosea non issue

They aren't good engines if a head gasket is considered standard maintenance. They are fuckin shit engines they drink fuel and don't go that good at all
>>15402731
No. If there is it will be a shitbox in parts.

at least they are pretty easy to do. the engine designed are fine, the gaskets were just like toliet paper quality. if you ever touched the used gasket you would agree

My co-worker has one, he loves it and the only true negatives are the ones described. Great all rounder although I wouldnt really use it for tracking

Did the head gaskets on my forester over a weekend a couple of years ago. Easiest big job ive ever done.
