Hi everyone,

I never came to /o/ before but I'm a first time car buyer and I wanted some advice.

Quick background: been driving for 7 years, parents bought first car, then used public transportation for a few years with a handful of rentals here and there.

I found a local dealership selling a 2007 Ford Mustang Premium convertible, stick shift, with 120k miles and every possible addon for $6999 (but can probably negotiate it down to ~6500).

Took it for a small test drive today and didn't see any problems, except the gear shift seemed a bit stiff (although it worked fine).

What do you guys think? The price is slightly below KBB, but I'm still nervous because I'm a first time buyer.

Any advice appreciated!

120k is a bit much desu...

i you don't need the car for daily transport and can afford one or two major ($600-1500) repairs it might be ok

otherwise find something else

So I'm looking to drive to work and back ~12 miles each way plus regular driving, should be about 10k miles per year. Do you think this would be a problem?

You're right, but in the 6k price range I'm likely to get pretty high mileage...

bump :(

12 miles isn't huge

if you don't mind taking the bus a few times while you iron the kinks out, go for it

but if you're looking for something that won't break down for a few years i'd look at something else

Just run the car in reverse, the miles will go down

120k is a shit ton, thats a 4 -5k dollars car in good conditions, i know that because i sold one for that much.

You should go for a GT or save a lottle bit more for a 2011 V6, they are being sold from anywhere between 8 to 14k.

I bought mine for 9k, its a V6 premium with the perfomance package and Manual transmission, and very low Miles (23k).

Thing is that it has a salcage title (rear ended) but it was only cosmetic and it was already fixed.

Shut up and buy a civic. V6 mustangs are shit. Everyone will know you were too poor for the v8. If you already have a car, fix it if it's broken and save until you can afford a 2011+ gt.

I highly recommend against it. That 4.0l v6 feels nice and torquey but is still pretty slow. Especially at that mileage, you could be doing bearings and clutch plus many other things within the next few years.

At least get a GT, even if its the previous gen
