I'm not a mechanic but I'd love to get into it. What's a fun Daily Driver that is easy to repair or restore? Dirt cheap would be a plus but anything under 10k would be awesome.

Any civic coupe/hatchback from 1989-2000
Civic, Corolla, Golf up to MkIII (MkIV is where the overcomplication starts)

This. And yeah fuck MkIV. My Jetta was a mess.
Literally any Ford
2000-2010 Focus or Ranger would probably be in your price range
>>15391941
mk1 focus had several issues, mk2 is a better choice.
Rangers are fun too but lolweightdistribution. Maybe look at a Taurus v6 if you want to stay ford...

I've been getting into working on my own vehicle recently after I bought a 2006 Elantra. Great price for a solid fucking car. I have to say everything has been fairly easy so far, although I haven't done much electrical work. It's been fun honestly, would recommend.

I think you missed the entire point of DD cars. They're not supposed to require a lot of maintenance.
This is where you go buy a volvo 240.
There will be a shitload yuu can do, but itll still move

Who cares about weight distribution? You're not tracking a Ranger. It's rwd and fun to drift in the snow, reliable and easy to fix.
>>15393245
he's not wrong, you know
>it's fun with a tarbo
>cheap as shit
>always something to fix

1992 Geo Tracker.
You can do anything with that bitch
any Subaru Impreza from the 1990's, they're fucking awesome, AWD and last forever

I'm guessing here, but OP prolly means a car that he can wrench on and get something done over a weekend at most.
OP, get a pre-2001 Civic like many have already suggested. Even though I own an Avalon and a Sierra, I daily a 99 manual civic coupe for work and it's a great car to get started on.
Old ford with a straight six. 60s up to early 80s. Dirt cheap to work on. My old mustang and comet are pretty reliable, and its super simple to work on. You can pull the starter from under the hood, same with the oil filter. I've swapped the rear end on the pony in 40 minutes
