I'm in the market for a first car, with a budget of around $7500CAD (5800USD). My brain tells me to buy an econobox that'll be reliable/have good gas mileage, but my heart keeps pulling me away. I'm big on wagons, and I'm sorely tempted to pick this up. Thoughts?

I wouldn't pick that up personally...
Not all econoboxes are totally boring.

If you decide to make a rational decision! Used modern kias and hyundais make for great cheap used cars imo

>BMW
Pls no

That's going to be a money pit, rather get something cheap and reliable and later when you have the money buy the car you really wanted
Don't be trapped in debt from a young age just because you wanted to look cool to your friends

325i wagon, pretty cool actually. Was expecting another faggot asking about a 318.
>awd
eeehh
at least it's manual?
e46 awd systems tend to be mostly dead weight and added complexity when doing suspension work desu
Can you afford to fix the car if it takes a shit on you?

Enjoy your explodemobile.

very impressive for a luxury brand, I always figured it would be more in line with Mercedes/BMW/Audi etc. but I guess relative design conservatism combined with high quality has paid off.

Kilometres, 96k miles for you in burgerland.
I realize I'm going to have to dump some money into it, I've put aside $2500 for maintenance over the next year and a half, and after that I'll have graduated.
I'm not crazy about the AWD, but these wagons are hard to find around where I live, and this is the first one that I've seem that hasn't obviously been beat to shit.

96k is still pretty bad.
keep in mind that these cars fall apart after 100k.
Also, I guarantee the front CV boots and axle needs to be replaced. Also, the fuel filter and manifold gasket needs to replaced.
source: i had a 330xi e46 up until 116k miles. Then the starter died costing 1200 to replace.
Also, those window pulleys break ALL the time.
tldr: the car was great until 98k.
Your money though.

Ask here m8, most /o/tists won't give you a decent answer.

>implying e46's after 100k aren't money pits
Some people like their money.
>>15387498
Fair points, and yeah I have heard about the power windows exploding in most of them, seems like an odd problem to have.
Just for some context I'm 21 with a fair amount of savings banked up. I realize what I'd be getting myself into if I did this (I still realize it's probably a bad idea though, I half made this thread to see if you guys could talk me down)

>ford that low
chart is a shit
>>15387526
There are better cars for the price. There is a reason why that luxury car has such a low resale value, and why you see so many e46's being sold right below 100k mark or a little over.
>>15385528
if you want a reliable bmw, get an e30.
>>15387526
I'd pass on it. Mileage isn't low

From the ad
"I should ask $10,000 for this car but I am discounting it by 18% due to a scuff, a speck of rust and a spot on a mirror."
>I want some of the kool-aid he is drinking
Not a good decision probably. I just ruined a five year relationship because of financial fuckery like that with an AE86. Plan that shit out. It can be a hard lesson to learn on your own. Maintenance creeps up on you until you're blowing thousands and hampering your own growth in life for a hobby car. Get one when you're at the position in life where it isn't a question.
