What valet cost these days for fancy restaurants, clubs, etc down or in nice areas? Are we seriously talking $5 when you drop off and $5 when you pickup? Or more like $2 and $2, or just $5 on pickup?
Any valet drivers here?

>$5
Stay classy, my friend.
couple bucks to drop off, fiver at pickup.
unless they charge to valet then I usually only tip at pickup (same five)
dgaf if people thing that's too little, too much. I did tip more for the kids who were fighting each other to take my TDI Golf 6MT. (in 2015 when the MkVII was brand new, shiny black, and I didn't totally feel like they were fucking with me)

Valet driver here for Downtown LA & I can confirm if the kid *me* is treating you nice and talking to you with much respect than the least you can do is leave a $5 tip when he gets your car. Because you might never know if that's his last hour shift or his shift ends when you come back to get the car. If you like the valet straight off the park then tip him first. He'll remember you and make sure you'll be taken care off. Trust me
Slip him a fifty.
If you can't afford that you should be parking your own car.

Over the time of the day, hands get skin oils and grubby if not washed. Do valets even bother washing their hands? Or do they wipe their greasy hands on the seats?

I did valet for some of the top restaurants in Philly a while back.
Most spots were $18 either upfront or after and tip was up to the customer. This kind of sucked because with the somewhat higher cost, the tip would tend to be lower. I started by driving the cars then ended up as a front manager for a few accounts.
It was ok, but I definitely wouldn't do it again.
My rule of thumb is to tip $1 for every $10k the car is worth new, but don't go below $5.
Any valets here recommend it? I'm thinking of becoming one.
>tips
>get to drive different cars you'd never be in
>they seem to chill and shoot the shit a lot
What are the shitty parts I'm missing?
