It's funny, people move in to a race track and then throw a hissy fit about the noise. It's not like there are millions of other places to choose from
Reminds me of people in Bongistan who would get an apartment on top of a night club or venue and then file noise complaints until it gets shut down. It became such an issue that London lost most of it's historic and iconic concert halls and clubs before lawmakers said "wait a minute".
Because the houses there are cheap. They are cheap because of the noise.
The people who buy these houses know this, and still buy the houses expecting they can leave with the noise. They found out they can't, and now want to contain it somehow.

Some company built a huge development right next to one of the local motocross tracks, and all the city people who moved in complained enough about the noise to get it shut down.

I just did a little research and Lime Rock sued the town of Salisbury four times to earn the right to race on Sunday. Also they have plans to get NASCAR to come race at their track.

The fucked up part is that they oftentimes succeed in getting them heavily restricted or shut down.
The city council knows they get way more property tax revenue from the subdivisions, so they bend over backwards to keep the soccer mom crowd happy.
Driving by there at least some of the houses have garages with racecars in them. I hope they can help tell their idiot neighbors to move away.
On the other hand, there is a church across the street, which was there first. Still though, Lime Rock, CT has nothing else if not for the racetrack. They should be grateful.
