Now my sister wants to get another car so she's trying to convince me to trade my Corolla for her Prius C so she can trade in the Corolla.

My Dad made a deal with me. IF and only if I waited until 18 to get my driver's license, he would pay for half of my first car up to a maximum of 10k on his end. Not when you live in a suburb. Just imagine a kid doing. Sports, maybe taking classes at a community college (running start), having a part time job, or even just a social life.
Having a car helped me mature and learn because it gave me easy access to so many places and things that were a pain without one.

School buses end after elementary school here. If you take a bus in highschool then you're taking the city bus and walking a mile+ from the nearest stop.
They were too poor and my dad doesn't care about me. But I just bought a Lancer yesterday. Pretty nice car.
mom gave me pic related which had been sitting for 2 years in front of her house with a frozen brake caliper. I had no clue about cars at the time so I just paid $70 and had it towed to a shop and paid them $300 to fix it and boom had my first car.
I enjoyed it

I got my first car when I was 16. It was my sisters car and it was a piece of shit. I had to fill up and bleed the power steering almost everytime i drove because it leaked that much fluid.
Eventually I sold it and didn't drive for a year. Then I bought a shitty s10 with my own money which is what i drive now. Fuck you guys for having parents with money

My grandparents had a PT Cruiser that they gave me when I got my license. Terrible, terrible, cars, but it was free so I was happy with it. I think it was actually a good car to start with since it was so terribly uninteresting that you need to push the car to the edge to get some fun out of it. Handbrake turns, scandy flicks, etc.
