I got a high mileage yaris. Paid 2700 for it. great physical condition but it had 234k. miles on it. Replaced the alt and battery so far because the alternator regulator failed and the thing is so fuck expensive to replace i just went and bought a 50 dollar junker alternator. Works fine and fixed it. Current issue is my maintenance light is on which is not a check engine light. Code says its a camshaft alignment sensor. Could be sensor or the camshaft but the car runs good so i think it might be a sensor.
The only real issue i have with is the whining noise when i accelerate. It might be the transmission. Its a high pitched rolling whine. Its not terrible, the only reason i can hear it is the car is VERY quiet.
Transmission kind of stumbled between gears sometimes but doesn't slip. Just seems a bit clunky. Fresh fluid in it. I also notice when i barely accelerate downhill it kind of tugs a bit but i dont feel a shift or rpm change. Fucking thing has no gauges or dials to speak of. I do hate that and the brake assist. I HATE that.

That's normal. When you stop your car, air flow has stopped to the engine and coolant is no longer flowing through the rad to cool the block so your engine can warm up a little more to a point where the electric fan sensor is triggered again.

Where I live people stay there until the very last minute and instead of finding a good spot to cut in and it causes a bigger backup than it would have if they slowly merged earlier.

Anyways, electronic shit is caused by shitty connectors to main computer, replacing them would fix those for ever.
Too lazy to reset codes from ECU, but after changing plugs to platinum plugs engine has been running a lot better.

It's a grounding issue. A circuit is finding a path to ground through the starter solenoid and this provides just enough amperage to keep the solenoid engaged but not enough to engage it by itself. Cleaning ALL grounds usually clears this up easily. Remember, they didn't do this when they were new, or even a few years old so it's a time and mileage maintenance issue.

Start with a beginner's tutorial, and pay close attention. You will see that what you said is 100% contradictory about how a bad connection helps some other circuit "find a path", and that making this connection better somehow eliminates the path.
