It's a GT car with crazy rice tax
I actually own one, so let me be honest.
The engine is god tier, but there are better engines in the god tier category.
Weight distribution is near perfect and easily fixed with aftermarket mods.
Chassis is somewhat heavy, but feels very planted and strong. Recommend re-knitting the chassis though and re-panelling with carbon fibre, you can shave a LOT of weight and turn it into a monster (but it's very expensive).
Stock brakes are pretty fucking damn good, only got beaten by the carrerra GT years later.
No back seats at all.
It's hella fun to slide around corners and despite weighing in at around 1500, it does not feel heavy at all.
It's a fun car stock, can become an absolute monster with a lot of money poured into it. And i mean a lot of money, but i also really mean the monster part.
Ferraris, lambos and other supercars should be terrified of a supra for good reason. 99% of the ones on the road are stock and outdated by comparison to what's out now....but there's that 1% floating around that will rape you a new asshole and you can never tell what's what.
That's why it has such a feared and respected street reputation.
It's basically a tuner hero. It's fun, but not amazing stock.

I have a fully built skyline GTR (which is faster than a 35) but i've also driven a 35 and a mate's fully built supra so i guess...

based on my mate's fully built supra, i would say once it's fully built it's on par with the 35 when it comes to traction, stability and putting the power down. (except on immediate launch, the 35 has a slight edge cause computers).
The difference comes in the way you can throw it around a corner if you want to. It makes very, very controllable slides. Fun is the best word for it.
The supra is also really fucking good at cornering, despite everyone thinking it's good just in a straight line. Weight distribution is great and after some carbon fibre, it gets to like 1200kg and is very nice to throw around.

Know that F&F scene? The supra was famous well before the movie, they actually drew inspiration from similar incidents in japan where the supra tuners would humiliate exotics for fun on the wangan.

The 2jz block is great, forged internals will get you to 1000hp but the rods begin to start getting unreliable at around 600hp. The engine's great, but it's not magical.
Anyway as i said in my first post, it's a tuner hero. The stock supra is good, it's fun but not amazing.
A heavily worked one though, is an amazing platform and there's a reason you see aventadors and 458's getting walked on youtube like they're nothing to it.

The reason they are expensive is because of how few of them exist in the US. Maybe you and your smokey nagata porn collection have been weebing out since then but the fact stands that they weren't that popular. The mk1 and mk2 have less aftermarket than a ford escort and the mk3 isn't doing that much better.

The Mugen RR uses Bridgestone RE070 RR tires developed specifically for the Mugen RR. The source I found is American so they don't list the Mugen RR, but:

I have no information on the exact type of tires used on the Supra because Fastest Laps doesn't specify. Based on what we know, we can deduce that the Civic had better tires than the Supra. However, even if they had the same tires, the Civic would still have an advantage because its tires are 14 years newer. All of this is enough to net at least .07 seconds on a track.

The cost of NA supras over here are quiet low (5-8k usd), can do an NA-T conversion for less than a TT model and achieve great results,
my e36 would need a engine swap but e36's are fairly plug and play and it would be cool to learn more about the car i already own.
since I am right hand drive both will have to have their turbo manifolds modified (RHD manifolds are rare) to avoid the steering column.
EDM vs JDM, ultimately both will end up with same performance with the BMW being slightly cheaper due to already owning one, still can get over the supras looks though.

Crying about how pigfat it is is irrelevant in the real world. At this point in the game, every supra is going to be at some phase of modified. Finding a stock one is SO FUCKING RARE.
So just enjoy it for what it is, there's a reason it's treated as legendary, it's obviously not the ultimate car but it's pretty damn good and a lot of fun you autistic fucks.

Regular supras without massive aero already dominate aventadors and 458's, as someone linked earlier in this thread. Smokey's would walk them like they're nothing.
