Tomorrow my YBR 125 goes in for its MOT before I sell it.

I know it's only a 125 and I have a much better bike now, but I feel somewhat sad about selling it. My first bike, 11 months of hard running by a newbie. It did me well, but times changed.

That's basically my bike, but that's an '09.

Mine has black clocks, full steel exhaust and different bar ends.

I have fitted it with Michelin Pilot Streets, sub 1k mile chain and sprockets and it will come with new front brake pads to be fitted. (Was planning on servicing the fronts. They work, just not outstandingly.)

Just bought the bike second hand, roughly 9000km so I'm assuming that this is the original front tire. I've got a booking next month for tires to be done but I'm just wondering if I should get it done sooner

Yeah check your throttle cable all the way down to the end, I wouldn't say it's likely that it came out of the guide because they're usually in pretty tight but you may have left a loose nut or something when you cleaned them.
>>
>>15346242
it only got super loose after the lowside but the handlebar did snap and other wires did get pulled off so I don't doubt that it got loose
>Just bought the bike second hand, roughly 9000km so I'm assuming that this is the original front tire. I've got a booking next month for tires to be done but I'm just wondering if I should get it done sooner
My tires were old and used when this happened, but like I said I never lost traction on DRY pavement unless the tires were cold (I didnt drop her though) and heavy/moderate rain isnt bad unless you go in some crazy ass puddle

Just watch out for the drizzle rain bro, accelerate and decelerate slowly in those conditions because I got BTFO twice for underestimating how slippery the pavement is during the weight transfer. Otherwise you should be fine as during the weight transfer its really the only time you'll lowside unless you hit something like coolant or oil on the road.

Hey guys serious question here.

I am 20 about to turn 21. When I turn 21 I gain access to a stock holding account worth, at the moment, roughly $430K.

So I want to treat myself to a 2010+ 1000cc but am having trouble going through my options as I hear almost all 1K's are pretty damn good except for the Honda's but I need personal opinions.

Any information will help.

Also I gain access to a 10 million dollar trust find when I turn 50.

I've been riding for 3 years...

I plan to use the stock holdings to diversify and continue to grow my portfolio. Live with mom and dad as long as I can before I need to put money down on a house... which I might just buy a small house completely out right in a southern state and avoid having to pay a mortgage.

The goal is to get enough money into an account to live off interest but I'm no where near that amount required.

My grandparents did as my father and his brothers and sisters were idiots with the money they had and were blowing through it like cocaine at a Christmas party. so to avoid further loses they created the trust fund with an age limit and gave them stock holding. needless to say they blew through all their holdings and are currently living off the trust.

My dad just turned 61 by the way.

interesting recommendations.
I didn't ask the question but I've ridden both the sv and tl and I wouldn't recommend them to a general rider.

Sv1000 is neutered and boring, steering damper too heavy, it felt like an arcade game.
tl1000s has a 2 stroke powerband and mediocre build quality.
tl1000r is kind of halfway between the two.

t. I want a tl1000s

Or...

Buy from tire shop and get them to mount.

Prices of DR350SE's going up, christ. Found a '97 w/ 6k miles for $2500 OBO. Is it better to wait for 98/99 with better suspension?

I'm nobike/nocar now and my dad will drive me in his truck to buy a bike but he thinks the DR350 is too heavy for the miniscule amount of offroad I'd do. 5'10 170lbs.
All his motorcycle experience is from when he was 14 and rode dirt bikes in the 70's, of fucking course even a small bike seemed super heavy to him. I'm not riding track.

Other option is, if you can afford it, get a Triumph Street Triple 90. It's at 94hp, not 105, meaning it's legal for the A2 restriction.

I used to drive a lot on my Madass 50, sold it to my younger cousin, i moved to a big city where my car is just no good (Wrocław) and i thought about getting and A2 license and later A when i can, what is some good A2 motorcycle?

I thought about older Honda CB500 or Suzuki GS500, anyone had them?

Im over 2 meters tall and like naked/adventure/touristic style bike look.
Motorcycle needs to be good to move around in a busy city and for some ~100 kilometer trips at 90 km/h.

I have a CB500, you need a restriction which brings it down from 58 to 48hp, everyone says you'll only notice a slight decrease in top speed.
Longs trips aren't a problem, I recently drove 400km (200km each way) without a problem, even did some smaller trips on the highway which wasn't a problem at all.
It's also nice for city riding and filtering imo.
I've got the CB500S, which got some fairing at the front, which is nice on the highway.
I've also read somewhere that it's one of the cheapest bikes to maintain/buy fuel per km.
>>
>>15346733
You'd have to restrict the CB500 to make it A2 viable, the new ones are 48PS though.
For your height look at adv style bikes with low hp like KLR650, BMW F650, Aprilia Pegaso, XTZ 660 etc.

I'm 186cm and own a CB500, it's ok as a beginner but sometimes I wish I had something taller.

Yeah i know i have to restrict it, i saw picrelated on german ebay for 100 euro. New ones are expensive and dont look as good, also you can pay slightly more for an NC700X which is a good bike i hear?

Also i wonder is big height a problem with more powerful motorcycles? Sachs Madass i used before was pretty tiny but didnt feel bad.
I hear that after 120km/h+ air pressure becomes a problem when you dont have that windshield, what i am afraid is that with my height even the tallest windshields wont help and still direct all the air to my face. I may be completely wrong, total newfag with more powerful motorcycles.

Even a small windscreen can help by removing wind blast from your chest which can cause you to tense up and fatigue you when riding. Your head with a helmet on is pretty aerodynamic so you don't really need to divert all the air over your head. For noise you should have ear plugs in anyway.

mine was a clutch plate that shattered. mostly big pieces but there were some fragments running through the engine for a bit. pulled some pieces out of the oil pan. it caused some bending between the crank and clutch teeth, giving it a really ugly rattle sound.

this was mainly due to not replacing the clutch plates at their interval. i replaced clutch plates and it runs fine, just loud.

Terrifying ride; first I ran a really badly placed temporary red light at a construction site (road that usually sees 1 car per day traffic and has enough room for 2 buses, now reduced to one lane) and briefly went in the wrong direction.
Then bike wouldn't go into neutral until restarted.
Then on the way back stalled twice starting uphill.

At least it resulted in a mildly acceptable photo.

The first 10000km are the hardest, am I right?

Because I mostly use it for running around town and commuting to work. The SV650s was a little too front heavy for tossing around town. I thought about a 250 dual sport but the road in front of my house is like 60mph and I don't want to fuck with thumpers or carburetors. There are probably other options but I haven't looked all that hard. The local used market is pretty shit if you aren't looking for a liter bike or Harley due to the proximity of ft hood.

How to fix this? It's PA6 nylon (probably with some filler or other additives - becomes spongy upon trying to weld). Cracked where the tank is pinched between seat and frame. New tank is 1000 EUR.

I just replaced the brake fluid for my rear brakes and I don't know how to tell whether or not I did a good job. The rear brakes always felt like shit (ninja 250 2005) and I replaced the fluid and honestly they still feel like shit.

I had a really fucking hard time getting an air tight seal on the nipple for the vacuum but I did manage to drain about 2-3 reservoirs worth without letting it get too low so I figure I must have done a decent job.

I don't know how these people on YouTube are able to get a consistent stream which they can check for air bubbles...the reservoir is so fucking small that I open the cap, a bunch dribbles out, and then I already have to refill.

How do I know if there is air in there? It feels like shit, but it always felt like shit. Are rear brakes shit?
