I started buying the mid/late 80's 750's a few years ago. Got old gixxers, vfr's and fz's stashed away. Only need some kwaka's to complete my 80's stash.
Best thing is they all cost under 1k each, a few were only a couple hundred each. Been buying heaps of parts as well. Looking forward to just tinkering with them and riding/racing them in the coming years.

What would you guys value a 2012 CBR250 with a scratched fairing at? It's fucked up on both sides and the clutch and front brake levers have both been replaced by this apparently retarded "previous owner". (every fucking time, nobody owns up to this shit)
Listed at $2500, the low value on NADA is $2130, does that sound fair? Honestly I don't really give a fuck about the fairing, it'll hide anything I do at this point but I'll take it if it'll get me a good price. Also CBR250 would be okay as a first bike, right?

CBR250's are alright first bikes, although gutless.
Lacks on the highway and the engine doesn't rev as high as the Ninja 250, has better torque though, being a thumper and not a twin.
ABS models have combined braking for maximum no-fun.
I personally prefer the Ninja 250 myself but there's not a whole lot between them. Ninja is faster, CBR has EFI.

Service history is paramount, knowing the bike has been maintained properly is more important than "only X amount of miles brah".
Older 500's are alright but a bit antiquated imo, fine first bikes though. You'll be turfing it for something better sooner or later so it's not like you need to get some bike you'll "grow into".
