Help me /dbt/

I can afford one of these two but I can't choose which one to buy. I do have long racing gloves and I do have a regular visor but I really want short summergloves because it's getting really warm but I also want a black visor. Unfortunately a visor for my helmet is pretty expensive so they both cost around the same.

>summer gloves

Get some generic fox gloves for 15€ on a sale somewhere, then get the visor.

Alternatively, use sunglasses under helmet.

If you must pick one of the two, get the visor. If you're riding in horrible heat (which is unlikely in any German speaking place) summer gloves won't save you from a miserable time anyway.

Also I rode 250km on this thing today. It's not very comfortable over longer distances. My bum hurts.

Don't forget earbuds. Get a windshield if your bike is naked. Remember to drink plenty of fluids, dehydration can leave you with a nasty headache for hours later.. Stop every 2 hours to relax and stretch a bit. Don't forget to eat properly too. Try not to rush things too much.

Do not ride past your comfort zone to impress anyone else, it almost always ends badly.

FKG is cute, try not to drop your spaghetti too much.

lmao, the 1980 BMW R65 I bought 3 weeks ago suddenly had no clutch movement. I drove 10 miles to the bike shop by hitting the kill switch every stop because I could not disengage the clutch what so ever. To start I would pull on the throttle while pressing the starter, popped a wheelie twice doing that. Thank God I was able to up shift easily so I could get on the highway. The shop owner told me that something is broken in the clutch and that I need to get it replaced (It's going to be ~$1k with labor...). He adjusted the clutch distance and said that it's still rideable just don't go hard. I'm going back when the parts arrive so I can get it fixed. Guess that's what I get with a 36 year old bike.

Has anyone started a bike that has been sitting for a few years? I was given a bike and we brought it over to my garage, in my truck. I replaced the oil and filter and drained and replaced the bad gas. My concern now is starting it without any oil on the piston rings etc, I'm sure it dried out. Would it be a good idea to just poor some oil in the cylinders, maybe a tablespoon, and let it sit for a while? How about some marine "storage fogging oil"? I have a can of it for my gas weed eater that I use to store it over the winter.

I like the bike and don't want to score the rings or trash the cylinders

Anon, old vehicles, unless you're willing to work on them yourself, are a terrible choice. Learn to wrench and do a full service or that 1980 BMW will be an endless money pit. This is just the first of many things that will go wrong with it.

With that said, clutch replacement is super easy on a motorcycle.

>new clutch kit costs $400-500

I'm not sure if it could help you googling the prices for parts on your bike anyway, but I can get a complete rebuild kit for my Honda for 200 USD on the Internets. It appears you're getting ripped off.

I used those gloves last summer, they are definitely comfy and fresh but to be honest they offer pretty much no protection.

Dr. Gregory House looks like he could use some seat time to relax. "Driving a motorcycle is like flying. All your senses are alive," he told one publication. So what did he do after getting his first bonafide paycheck from the successful Fox drama? He bought a Triumph Bonneville to rocket around the Los Angeles streets.

Guys I currently ride a Ninja 250 and I tried out a shit load of bikes today at the local dealership. I hopped on a FZ-09, CBR1000RR, CBR600RR, S1000RR, ZX6R, and they all felt fucking terrible and awkward as shit. I have no idea how anyone rides these bikes.

Carfag here, how hard is it to learn how to ride? Too poor for the classes, but my dad's getting too sick to ride his bike (Harley Sportster) and I'd like to not have it sit collecting dust when he passes it down to me.

It's not that difficult. Like most things, it just takes practice. I would very strongly recommend the classes though. It's also the best way to get your license - so it's 2 birds with 1 stone
>>
>>15327712
Easy, but i recomend learning how to many trany first, then take a msf course and that's that,

Definitely...one of the biggest parts about learning how to ride a motorcycle is the transmission. You'll be off to a pretty good start if you understand the concept already and know how to not stall the bike and shift etc...

Where do you live? What is the out the door cost? Make sure you calculate the final price including any taxes, dock fees, freight fees, registration/title fees, and insurance.

Hyosungs aren't too popular (rightfully so) but they are fuel injected so you don't have to worry abotu fucking with a carb and a choke as a beginner. If it comes with a warranty of some kind, it's not a terrible option.

Also they look amazing. All the girls will think you're riding a liter bike.

its not exactly hard to get caught by a red light camera, light can be green when you enter, traffic moves fucking slow and you get caught in the middle of the intersection while the light is red.

Stress less and call your mate, getting angry over petty shit doesn't help anything.
>>
>>15327979
That isn't how it works bruh. You get a ticket if you enter the intersection after its red.

Tonight I decided to wear my race gauntlets after months of not wearing them. I noticed my pinky finger on the right hand was super stiff. I figured it would break in again or something. previously had tires manufactured in 2003 (lol) on there and holy shit, i had no idea how TERRIBLE they were. even tho these new ones feel really slippery they outhandle the old ones a million percent and also have a crazy smooth ride
so guise if you have older tires on your bike, even if the tread is almost full, its worth changing that old rubber. so worth.

well I understand why such a thing would exist. Sometimes when trying to turn right (or left in most of the world) and don't get a green arrow it's impossible because of a constant flow of traffic in the other direction which has right of way. A hook turn basically puts you first in line for the cross traffic so you get to go when the light changes. Seems like it could be confusing to all traffic though.

In America people just pull out into the middle of the intersection and cut across once it goes red.

>>15328051
seems logical if you could design your infrastructure to accomodate that from the outset. most urban roads where i am aren't wide enough to make it any more economical to do a hook turn than it would be to wait in the left (or right, in australia i guess) lane to cut across when traffic slows or the light turns
>>
>>15328051

hi guys. new from /k/ here.
I started riding in may. Got my first bike, a 03 yzf600r. This week it started not starting until it has cranked for a good 8-10 seconds. Before it started pretty much as soon as I hit the start button. Now the starter just spins for 8-10 seconds and then it starts up. Does the starter itself sound like its the issue?
>>
>>15328099
I imagine it makes you harden the fuck up a bit and realise the world is not all rainbows and sunshine.
>>
>>15328112
Is the engine actually turning or are you just getting a whirring noise? It's not the starter if it actually turns. If it's just whirring then your starter clutch is probably bad.
