What went wrong?

They tried to cover up a gutless petrol engine by adding hybrid power. It failed.
>>
it only seats 2 full grown adults
>>
It was a hatchback with no space
It was a sports car with no oomph
Mediocre car in general, it wasn't good in any area really
>>
>>15300922
It wasn't the Fiesta ST pretty much.
>>
>>15300922
It's just a good looking.. They should have made a spicy version of it, but the japanese brands are too sober nowadays

F22c1 swap and rwd. Would be gud
>>

That wasn't the problem.

That wasn't either

The reason it failed is twofold.
The CR-Z is supposed to be a modern version of the Honda CR-X. It has the looks part down. It's gorgeous and looks like a modern CR-X. The problem is everything else.

The original CR-X was based on the Honda Civic. As such, the original CR-X was known for its handling prowess, light weight, and fuel economy.

The CR-Z is none of that.
The CR-Z is based on the Honda Fit. So while the second gen CR-X (the one most beloved) had a double wishbone suspension front and rear, the CR-Z had macpherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the back. They could've made this work. Chevrolet showed that suspension combo can work with the Cobalt SS. But it a bog-standard Fit suspension. Had they based the CR-Z on the 8th gen Civic, thing's may've been different.

The other problem was under the hood. It didn't need a monster engine. It didn't need RWD. But the one thing it absolutely did not need was a hybrid drivetrain. The hybrid drivetrain adds too much weight so the car isn't any more fuel efficient than the 1.5L is normally. It's too focused on being environmentally friendly to be any fun, and it's too focused on being sporty to actually be very environmentally friendly. All they had to do was make the standard CR-Z an R18 1.8L, the CR-Z Si a K20 or K24 from the Civic Si, and the L15 engine from the Fit for the CR-Z HF.

That's what was wrong with it and how they could've made it a decent car that would've actually sold.

Honda is a fallen manufacturer.

It's simple, no SI model

This is the real answer.

It's kind of sad reading this and realizing how fucking easy it would've been to not screw up.

The Honda Fit is more of an old Civic than the modern civic is like old civic you fucking idiot.
Double wishbones is not make or break

He specifically said 8th gen civic you fucking double nigger. If we were talking 9th and 10th gen civics I would agree with you, but the 8th gen civic drives more like previous Civics than the Fit, which admittedly drives fantastic.

this car literally gets the same mpg as the civic coupe as well. pathetic...i cant believe people are calling this the new CRX
