I need suggestions. I'm currently too poor to afford a new car but I want to start looking out into what car to buy in the future.
Here are my requirements:
>RWD or rear biased AWD
>not very heavy, best sub 1600kg
>fun to drive
>1995+
>coupe/sedan
>doesn't need to be very powerful, 150hp+ will make me happy
I drive a BMW E36 at the moment and I'm very happy with it so the best successor would logically be an E46 but I'd like to expand my horizons as far as my automotive hobby is concerned and try new things. The only cars I can think of that meet my requirements are NC/ND Miata (NA Miats will probably all be beat to shit when I'm able to afford a new car) and the Fiata (1.4 engine tho, disgusting)

wait one year and get a used abarth 124 for like 22k (they'll depreciate extremely fast due to the badge)
then drop $1000 on a better intake and a chiptune for 200whp

Yeah I thought about going for the Abarth 124. The 1.4 engine kinda scares me off though. I might consider a BMW inline 6 swap if I do get it
Is the ND bad though? Or is it just that the Abarth is going to be cheaper?

the 1.4 is actually super reliable. ask and 500 abarth owner if they've had engine problems and they'll tell you no. the rest of the car falls to pieces but the engine is fine.
the abarth IS the ND, except with an engine and transmission swap and a body kit, everything else is identical. The two cars are even built in the same factory in hiroshima
