I'm actually thinking about doing that that. Especially with used models, the price difference is pretty narrow. Corvettes are more expensive to maintain in the long run though, and I probably will be using the rear seats pretty often too.

GM is claiming 4s flat with the convertible too and reviewers have pegged it just below 4.1 seconds. The convertible only weighs a bit more due to stolen Cadillac aluminum witchcraft if you physically disconnect the fabric and the way the modified the structure makes it so the folding mechanism and reinforcements lay directly above the rear wheels so the weight gain goes towards added grip.

Corvettes are not really that maintenance extensive nor are parts that costly. Corvette tax really only applies to aftermarket parts which is expected as they have lower volume and even then, it isn't absurd.

The only people that are in my back seat are women and sometimes my friends, but for the latter it's only on 10-15 minute trips to get food or too the mall/movies. They don't look as good with the top up, it fades, they are louder. But when the top is down, they look amazing, they sound great, and it's a blast to hoon a car with the top down.

I personally have not once found the current-styling of the Camaro even remotely attractive. The retro-modern look was kind of cool when it first came out and you removed the Chevy badge but beyond that I...Man I just don't get it.. I've never been envious of someone in a modern Camaro. Old ones? Fuck yeah every day but the new-est ones do absolutely nothing for me.
But, you're buying for you not for me.
