Larger and softer than the NA/NB. Definitely more hairdressy in that regard. They're also much nicer cars than the NA/NB.
But the only acceptable myat to buy after 2005 is the ND.

Nope. I bought my NB for a ridiculous price and loving the shit out of it. I'm soon done with overhauling the whole suspension, only new bushings left. Then I will start working on the mechanical part in order to make sure that it runs 100% like it should. I agree on that a stronger engine would not hurt, neither would shorter gearing. But that are things that are fixable.
