+1 for ratcheting wrenches. You'll never take a normal wrench into a confined space again. The only problem with them is they can't be used for the old double wrench trick, but still.

>What are some must haves in your AUTOMOTIVE toolbox?

In either a home toolbox or onboard toolkit, an assorted set of mini-blade fuses if you have a modern car or the slightly larger blade fuses for the older cars.
>>
>>15245935
Framing hammer. I use one nearly every time I work on my car.

This should probably be in the sticky.

Nice service tier-stuff
>digital caliper
>micrometer
>soldering kit

I keep one standard medium-size wrench around and use it for doubling. No broken ratchet wrenches yet.
>>
I always use nails and sheet metal screws when I am working on my car. You always need to have these around.

Zip ties if you really get into a bind.

Air tools save my life
My father constantly requests help with his industrial cars and taking off the tires is a real bitch without a high impact wrench
also blowing compressed air onto the brakes to clean them is great, easy as fuck
when welding on some real /diy/ shit an air sander is fucking amazing to clean a rusty spot prior to welding
>tl;dr get an air compressor with some tools to go with it, its useful as fuck
>>
Ratcheting wrenches. Seriously someone should give the guy who invented those 72 virgins
>>
>>15252966
Boring, I enjoy smashing my knuckles off metal, that's how my daddy did it and his daddy
>>
>>15250866
take a lot of tires off, do you?
>>
>>15250033
Jumper cables, road flares, window breaker in the glovebox, a tire iron and a 10mm ratchet because most of the bolts on my car are 10mm, also a phillips head and some channel locks
>>
>>15245935
if youre doing it professionally or for fun?
if professionally literally almost every tool will come in handy at least once
>>

>bushings

You have a mobile press?

>hurt you can just press them in with a straight board and 2 buddies

You are better off just driving on the wrecked bushing. Trust me you can do that for thousands of miles.

Multiple 10mm sockets. Cause you will lose that fucker.
>>
>>15253938
The really strange part is I find other techs tools sitting on underbody covers, under seats, in dashes, etc. but I've never found a 10mm socket. Where do they go? This is not a "haha yep man all techs know about this" joke, it's a serious issue that needs to be addressed. Are they rolling down storm drains into the ocean?
>>
>>15253952
gremlins
>>
>>15253938
WHY IS THIS SO TRUE?
>>
>>15253952
The great beyond. That's where they go. But then as soon as you get another one, the one that was lost suddenly appears in your toolbox.
>>
>>15253952
Same concept as this
