The AMC Pacer.
Sold really well it's first year. They actually couldn't produce enough to meet demand so they reduced quality to pump out Pacers faster to meet demand.
Then by the second model year, everyone who wanted one had one and people began to realize how shit it was. The fallout was so bad AMC almost went bankrupt. The would have had Renault not stepped in.
