This board had a paradigm shift where people, notably Civic drivers and busriders shitpost about fun/performance cars all day and legitimately think automatic FWD econoboxes are enthusiast cars. Either that or they'll a vocal minority of shitposters.

They're. I think I'm morphing into a chink

depends on the car in question. In general, you're right. However, I'll give a pass to a FWD car with a DCT automatic, like the Volkswagen GTI, VW Beetle Turbo, and Acura ILX.

>>
>be diesel
>traffic
>massive turbo lag
>first gear redlines at like 15mph
>absolutely nothing below 2000rpm
>absolutely nothing above 4000rpm
>sensitive as fuck throttle

Have to choose between the car screaming along at redline just to keep up with traffic jams, or constantly go first to second and back. Tiny adjustments of the throttle in first gear make the car lurch around and look like you don't know how to drive.

It's even worse when the engine is cold and the car can't decide if it wants to idle at 800rpm or 1100rpm, because sometimes you'll have the radio on and not hear the engine, expect its at 800rpm like usual but you let the clutch out and almost annihilate the car in front because muh high idle.

Traffic is suffering, but its more than worth it for manuel desu.

diesels are absolute shit at rpms right above idle.
dad's 1.4 civic chugs up our steep driveway at 700 rpm in second gear, while mum's 2.0 diesel rav4 has to be shifted into first and ride the clutch.

My car? I just leave it D

Thanks to /o/ I got myself the 5 speed Civic instead of the automatic. Fun to drive, amazing gas mileage, got an intake to improve induction sound.

pic related, mine.

Son, its not an SI

I dont see the purpose, but if it makes you happy then fuck it, Dun matter

Should I get the 2016 Civic manual or get a 9th gen? I really love the way pic related looks, just needs different wheels.
>>
>>15224246
B.C. plates, your town/city out of gas yet?
>>
>>15224538
Depend what your intentions are. If it was a toss up between a new 2016 or a used low mileage Si, I would choose the 9th gen Si all day long.
>>
>>15224560
No Si, I want an econobox that drinks 87 octane with lower insurance premiums.
>>
>>15224582
Ah I see, then a 2016 Civic is a good choice. That or a Mazda 3.

There's your problem. Toyota manuals are probably worse than Hyundai
>>
Same, burnt the shit out of my first clutch(had 90k miles on it when I bought it first manual) took it too a good mechanic that set up a new clutch just right and I'm on 117k right now running almost as good as when it got installed, thanks /o/.

Sidenote, bitches love it, they're really dumb and think it's super complicated every first date where I drive it's "omg anon u drive stick shift, it revs so loud/it's so fast(Kek econo box hatch with 160hp)
>>

>diesels are absolute shit at rpms right above idle

If you have a shitbox, yeah.

Modern turbo diesels are superb. Mine has a variable vane snail shell and it makes peak torque at like 1.5k rpm through to 4k flat where it drops off.
The gears are fairly long too & with the torque there is no issue.

>dad's 1.4 civic chugs up our steep driveway at 700 rpm
Put it into 1st? that's retardedly low rpms
>>
>>15226551
It's not attractive if you drive an econobox like >>15224246, is it? Or are they dumb enough to believe it's fast?
>>
>>15223306
>Tiny adjustments of the throttle in first gear make the car lurch around

This is true in literally any car. At lower speed the engine needs less power to change in velocity. First gear is short.

Clutch partially back in if pulling away, whether you're stationary or rolling at 5mph.
