So, how do you hold the steering wheel?
>>
A.

Not sure if that's the "correct" or "only true way" to do it, but when I was learning to drive if I held it any other way my dad would act like I was about to crash into a wall.
>>
>>15222241
I've always had my hands offset at 10 and 4. Is that weird?
>>
I pinch the steering wheel between my thumb and pointer finger at 5 o'clock.

like here but hand at the bottom of the wheel

From what i've heard, it was the old standard taught a while ago, but that 9 and 3 are safer and being taught these days.
>>15222261
Are you a women?

A.

I get a great grip on the wheel, and it doesn't strain my wrists like the one below it. Can't decipher that letter.

what alphabet is that?
i hold it top right corner on roads I'm familiar with.
top left on curvy roads that I'm unfamiliar with
top middle in manhattan

the bottom row is retarded, I have never seen such tomfoolery.
>>
>>15222241
>all examples shown involve fingers/thumbs hooked inside the rim
Someone needs to go back to driving school.
>>
>>15222241
Most of the time it's 10-2.
If I was cruising on a straight road in my old commodore I'd rest my left arm on the comfy as fuck center console and hold the bottom of the wheel with my right hand.

I alternate between 9/3, 11/1, and just one hand at 12.

Are you not supposed to hook your thumbs in the wheel? Is it just a meme from the manual steering days? I guess technically the air bag going off or a collision could break your thumbs. I try not to keep em' hooked whenever I can.
>>
>>15222241

I usually keep my left hand at 9 clock at all times.

I only use my right hand when driving aggressively or taking hard turns.

I grip my wheel using the index finger, middle finger and thumb of my left hand positioned at 7-8 o'clock.

it's not comfortable, so do people learn to do it by looking at their dad and thinking it's cool?

i wonder who the first guy who did this was
>>
>>15223022
I always thought the same thing. How can that be comfortable to have your arm like that constantly? If I'm holding the wheel with one hand it's always somewhere between 9 and 6 o'clock.

"The mark is also increasingly being used by JDM enthusiasts in other countries, such as Australia, Malaysia, Malta, New Zealand, the UK, and the U.S.A. to show their passion and interest in JDM culture. Some have taken the Shoshinsha shape and replaced the original green and yellow colors with their own flag to distance themselves from the "beginner" label, while still showing their enthusiasm for JDM car culture. There are even sites specializing in producing these "custom" wakaba badges. Thus, in countries besides Japan, the shoshinsha mark has become more of a decorative decal rather than a traffic warning."

It appears the weaboos don't even care what it means as long as it's Japanese,

That's because at 10-2, you'll punch yourself in the face when the airbag goes off, as well as break your wrists.

9:00 and 3:00 most of the time.
10:00 and 4:00 or 8:00 and 2:00 if sitting at a stoplight, waiting to turn.

When taking a fast turn, do most of you tense your core and lean into the turn, fighting the centrifugal force, or do you stay loose and allow your body to lean completely towards the side of the car?

9 & 3 is objectively the best position. If you naturally hold the wheel this way you are likely an alpha male, able to please women in bed with ease.
>>
9 and 3 always for most driving.

Straight highway with no one around for miles?
might go to 7 and rest on side arm thing
>>
>>15223022
having your hand resting on the top allows you to dangle your arm instead of supporting it with your muscle. With your hand on the side it would turn the wheel if you stopped holding your arm up

In new cars, the place to grip them is that "fat area" at almost the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. The car manufacturers provide that physical hint because of the way that airbags come out.
