Anyone hear any rumors about what we'll learn on June 21st? Really surprised that nothing has leaked yet.

I recently saw someone post that we might see a full MSRP buyback less some sort of mileage deduction. Cash compensation in the area of $7-10K on top of that; along with an incentive to stay with the brand for a new purchase. Seems very wishful in my opinion.

I work at VW (parts specialist) and have heard absolutely nothing.

The gag order is pretty tight. I really like my 2012 Jetta but depending on the offer it might be a no-brainer to do the buyback.

There shouldn't be a buyback program. They're all decent cars (minus the bad hpfp's) that get good mpg. They'll never be unable to be registered so who cares?

Just one bump

Oops, missed your post. Yeah I actually really like my car. Without traffic my 20 mile commute will put my MPGs right around 50. I think that the highest I ever got was 55mpg coming home one night. It will also be awesome to finally have this thing paid off early next year. At that point I just want to enjoy not having a payment to make. That said, a buyback might be pretty tempting. Really don't want to give up these MPGs though. Here in Philly diesel is almost on parity with regular unleaded.

If it is anything like past corporate blunders upon the environment, then it should be similar to what EXXON had to pay out for both legal penalties, cleanup, and fixing the problem for the Exxon Valdez. All those people who said it was unfair to Exxon should also not be hypocrites and they should forego any buyback on on the pollution delta-value of their otherwise functional and driveable car. The exxon valdez environmental problems still exist beneath the immediate surface yet the problems with a VW car would be much shorter lived and have less financial impact costwise for the actual technical correction. Therefore, it is more than valid to insist that the penalty and repair costs the VW corporation should pay out should be less percentage-wise than for the Exxon Valdez.

If you're against VW, then you are against business, jobs, and capitalism. You're a commie.
