So no Jeeps, no pickup trucks, no truck based SUV's

Crossover's, Wagons, Hatchbacks, Sedans, Coupes etc.

What are some of the most capable off road?

Keep in mind GROUND CLEARANCE for not getting stagged on rocks and giving out of deep ruts.

And a solid AWD that won't just spin the one tire that's in the air, while another is buried.
>>
Jeep Cherokee Banned from the lsit sizne they get like 15 mpg. Even though it's a damn good Unibody.

I can't think of a single non truck based suv that has a locker.
it's hard enough to get oem lockers in truck based suvs.

some wagons and crossovers might have lsds, but those are rare and are still gonna spin, especially if they are a few years old they probably have no locking torque at all anymore and function like an open diff unless torsen.

if you want lockers go aftermarket, dont make it a requirement for your purchase. that just arbitrarily narrows it down for no reason.

Subaru Outback wagons have 9 inches of ground clearance.

Most "suvs" don't have that anymore.

I win.
Older model Subaru Impreza/Legacy/Forester with a reasonable lift
No turbo required, form personal experience I'd say the 1.6 is ab bit weak once you've loaded up the car though

>all time four wheel drive (part-time systems are shit for going slowly and smoothly, plus most were not designed to engage reugularly)
>bits for rising the car are easily available, oem Forester springs can be used to raise other models
>generally quite robust, esp. the drivetrain
>not at all rare, non-turbos are affordable
>large choice of aftermarket roofracks and mudflaps apparently
>more repair friendy than many other passenger cars

this is a big one
>'dual range' aka low range in all non-turbo manuals at least in europe
very handy if you want your clutch and driveline to last when offroading

>06 3.6r h6 outback.
My dd, I like it. 9" clearance iirc, rear lsd, capable of light offroading(get to tough sites), 6ft covered bed with flat rear seats, rated 3000lbs towing. If you want one to fuck with I'd go Gen 2 h6 outback since it'll be cheaper.
>mechanical
I don't know about Gen 2, but H6's are less prone to common Subaru faults such as headgaskets and timing belt issues since they have a timing chain.

If one of these won't go over it, it's not worth going over.

Otherwise, if you modify something enough, it'll go anywhere. A friend of mine modded a goddamn minivan as an off-road vehicle.
>>
>>15214791

if you think that shitcan can offroad you have never driven a lada
>>
/o/ knows fuck all about offroading.
they think offroading is overlanding.
basically any suv on the market can overland.
