Hello aut/o/ enthusiasts! I'm in the market for a fun little car, but was more interested in picking up something on the older side, before the year 2000. There's nobody selling a miata near me so what other cars would fit the bill?

Z3, E30 cabrio, E36Vert, R170 SLK,
Not many roadsters were available in the 90's and the Miata is a better than all of those above.

The Bedford Rascal fits the bill perfect!

Since you posted the Capri I'll post the last main early 90s American convertible of the time.

I always liked the pre-facelift Lebarons with the hidden headlamps. Did those come in the turbo-4 version?

OP here. I found someone selling a 91 Capri nearby. It's got 140k miles on it. Looked to be in a bit if a rough shape and is missing the belt that turns the alternator and water pump. Paint is chipped, has been sitting for 4 months apparently, and the owner has lost the trunk/glove box key. It's does have all of its original manuals and books in a leather bound holder thing. Engine cranks and runs pretty damn well for a car in its shape. It's the non turbo version though. I'll take pictures tomorrow. What do you guys think? Good or bad?

This, lots of very nice looking Triumph and MGB roadsters for sale in my area, I've thought about buying one myself a few times. Maybe when I have a little more money saved up.

I wouldn't. Ignoring the fact it's FWD they're prone to electrical issues. Extremely common for them to randomly drop to 3 cylinders.
It's 200kg heavier than an NA Miata, FWD, built on the Laser platform, and uses 323 internals.

Because it's not the turbo Capri, it's going to be rather gutless. If you can get it for under a grand, it might be okay. Keep in mind, it's all early 90's Ford electronics inside, so power options may be touchy or not work whatsoever. Mechanically, it's a FWD Mazda 323, so parts are generally cheap.
I've owned a 94 XR2 and a 93 Base, world of difference between the two.
